I never said there was a problem, just that it's been successful in Europe and was worth trying to see if it would work over here, similar to the text ticketing system which I've used and would recommend to anybody.
Thought that was a pointless gimmick too, I'm afraid.
Back to the cashless catering, I'm still not sure what the "problem" is or what the hoped for benefits are. Adoption in one very large stadium in Munich where you use it to pay for everything - car park, programmes, shop (interestingly you can get a refund/change from the top-up vendors there) does not mean it is right to inconvenience the punters in the West Stand at the end of a dire season in the name of experimentation.
I tell you what. If they want to experiment, why don't they try selling decent food and drink at reasonable prices served by pleasant and efficient staff; it might catch on.
