What are you having for lunch? (rolling thread)

As i'm in North Yorkshire this week, a pair of oak smoked kippers from Fortunes smoked kipper business in Whitby was a must for today.
Certainly worth the journey there, as they were ( as per usual ) absolutely delicious.

A warm pork pie ( just baked & taken out of the oven ) from a butcher in Filey, along with a sausage roll, as thick as a beer can!. Both delicious, especially the pork pie, as the gelatine had yet to set.

Had a voucher for Christmas for afternoon tea at the Roslin, which we booked for yesterday's lunch.

Almost didn't make it when the mother-in-law had to be taken into hospital by emergency ambulance, but very kindly, the Roslin moved out to the later sitting and we were able to enjoy this plate of deliciousness.

So many afternoon teas have scones the size of footballs, so these were perfect - plus a doggy bag box to take home any leftovers.....not that we needed it, we were both starving by the time we got to eat it! Have to say that the desserts were gorgeous, again, perfect size. Finished off with a cocktail and pretended we were on holiday as we should have been!

But it would be grilled the other way, it's cheese on toast then you're adding the beans on top?

But all the fat out of the cheese would roll off if you put it on top of the beans, whereas if you melted the cheese on the toast it would soak inro the bread. Yumo

Half pint of both coc kles & whelks, from Leigh Old Town. Coc kles were fresh in today, absolutely delicious, as the whelks were as well.
