Flicked channels on the telly just now and found TOTP Greatest Hits 1997, specifically Aqua singing Barbie Girl with that immortal line 'Come on Barbie, let's go party' from Ken. They just don't write lyrics like that any more do they?

Was having a bit of a nostalgia fix this afternoon in the car. First up Denny Laine and the Moody Blues. Heard this for the first time on the way to the Boys and Girls Exhibition with the my school at the time -1965. Loved it the first time, and, because it's timeless, love it just as much today. 57 years ago.........I now feel very ancient!!

Followed by a more recent offering (1967) from Mr Laine which is another one of my all time favourites. Self indulgent but who cares.

"I fell asleep on Porthcawl sands,
Slipped through a rabbit-hole of time ......
Kids kick a football in the rain,
A bin bag blows across a field,
We're kids again, walking home from school,
There's Dexter, Joanne and me and you ....
Days spent talking in your room,
The smell of freshly- blow-dried hair,
And when I got my first guitar
You sang along to 'Reach Out I'll Be There'.
I stole a hair-grip from your bag
And hid it safe in a dry-stone wall,
When you fell for Joe McGrath it broke my heart ..."
