Question What is making you happy today?

Having hubby home for the weekend.

He's currently a third of the way through training to be an "urgent tier" ambulance care assistant/driver, which is a short term contract, unless he wants to carry on and become a full blown paramedic.

They'd been told they would be escorting people to and from hospital and completing risk assessments.....the first day of training, the very first scenario they had was "You're first on the scene of a terrorist incident....."!

Sitting outside a cafe in Corringham enjoying a coffee with the wife and boy. It's the little things that will get us through this pandemic.
I notice a lot more cafes opening, serving takeaway coffees - it’s funny how seeing just some snippets of “normal” again do wonders for the old mental health.

Went on my longest run for (after checking) 5 years!! I was shocked I hadn’t gone that far in that long. I ran for an hour and did 7.12 miles with an average pace of 8.31 per mile. It was a steady run and I felt great.

I really think my choice of music helps I have just finished reading Slash’s book and have downloaded a lot of his stuff. Listening to Slash shred and his solos is an excellent motivator for me.

To get home as fast as possible and put something decent on?

Still managing to keep on with my running progress with a steady 8km run yesterday and my first sub 25 min 5km on Friday. Dog walking duties for a vulnerable friend today so that counts as my rest day with a slow hour and a half stroll through the woods.

Yeah it was a real struggle at 7am I nearly bottled it. Once I got out and running I started to feel better and then when I got home I was pleased I went out.

That's exactly like me. I'm also please when I force myself to do something I didn't want to. It's good for your mental strength.

Mind you the only time I run early morning is in the middle of summer when it's too hot otherwise. I find it very difficult to run unless I've had a lot to drink first, and then given my stomach time to settle. That may be an age thing, but I really struggle otherwise. Although, again, maybe it's the thought of it rather than anything else.

Going back to this, I checked the weather forecast yesterday and realised it was going to be hot at lunchtime today so an early-ish run might be more sensible. So, I had an apple at about 7.45 and waited about an hour (during which time I made sure to drink plenty of water) and then went for my run.

That was my fastest time since lockdown, by some margin too.

This morning was significantly hotter than yesterday. Yesterday was really nice to run in today was a lot harder.

Nothing better than getting back and seeing you’ve done a quick time, well done.

Especially when you're as rubbish as me at pacing yourself!

Well, we only went and clocked up our fastest walk and paper time this morning, shaving five minutes off our previous best. It obviously helped having two cups of tea before we set off, one of which had half a spoonful of sugar in it.This undoubtedly increaed our energy levels, hence the improved time. Tomorrow I'm going to experiment with a bacon sandwich pre walk.
