This has puzzled me for awhile now..When did the invention of swear words start or stop...We have all used the ones that have been around for eons. How come no new ones turned up ( we dont need to see examples here) but to me we have maybe filled the cup. Kind of odd to me.

Which I guess is a good thing.

The huge majority of swear words are to do with knickery bits or what they do! (Yes, those ones!)

I know this. Swear words that we think are ok(ish) today were very very naughty a few 100 years ago, especially those that are blasphemic(?). So God, Jesus, Christ would have got you in very hot water, whereas c**t, f**k were seen as harmless. Roads were prostitutes were was known as "C***y Grope Lane" and no one battered an eyelid. [Rhymes with Funny)

It was only in the prudent Victorian era that the sexual swear words became naughty.
