When long throws go bad

hahahahahahah

That is quality....the guys saying "That's not right" What the fact that the idiot stood so close to him as he was taking the throw!!!

Good find Ant

Yes. Absolutely. But only because I can't see it. You Tube is banned at work!

Good find that ant! Is that not classified as a foul throw though?

Who cares he got him slap bang in the face HAHA!!!

why exactly would it be a foul throw? both feet are on the floor, behind the line and the ball is released behind the head.

he gets some huge distance on the first one, longer than delap

Dunno just didn't think going flips would be allowed whilst taking a throw in.

Wasn't there some chap that used to throw like that years ago for a Division 1 team and even though it appears to be a legal throw.....it was outlawed.

I think it was because it is difficult for the throw to be achieved in this way with out your bum touching the ground as the ball is launched which of course makes it a foul throw. And referees were struggling to see if the bum was actually touching the ground due to the speed of the throw.

yeah, Anton Outolow..whatsit of Southend United, although I do recall him being uable to manage it at RH and the league decided it was a foul throw pretty quickly

As it is not legal to touch the ball after releasing it once in the field of play, can you do it out of the field of play?

Imagine this....you take a run up throw the ball in front of you with some height so it starts dropping near the touch line then you wallop the ball with both hands as it is dropping behind you similar to a Volleyball strike, that would make the ball go like a bullet. And be perfectly legal??

That would take alot of practice to perfect! Also I could see alot of foul throws with this unless you could do it perfect every single time.

Speaking of foul throws one was given against Johnny Herd on tuesday then Telford had a throw then one was given against them LOL!

Football 365 has a thread on that very subject.

The ref could call that as a foul throw if he feels that thrower did not use both hands evenly. It has to be released by both hands equally.

but if you could perfect it in such a way as to strike it with both hands from behind your head would it be legal?

Highly unlikely, granted but legal?

But to let the ball fall from height behind your head you would need to use both hands and throw it in the normal way, thus losing all the momentum already built up. It would therefore be pointless. Probably legal, but pointless.

BTW:-
Law 15 - The Throw In
A throw-in is a method of restarting play.
A throw-in is awarded to the opponents of the player who last touched
the ball when the whole of the ball crosses the touch line, either on
the ground or in the air.
A goal cannot be scored directly from a throw-in.
Procedure
At the moment of delivering the ball, the thrower:
• faces the field of play
• has part of each foot either on the touch line or on the ground
outside the touch line
• holds the ball with both hands
• delivers the ball from behind and over his head
• delivers the ball from the point where it left the field of play
All opponents must stand no less than 2 m (2 yds) from the point at
which the throw-in is taken.
The ball is in play when it enters the field of play.
After delivering the ball, the thrower must not touch the ball again
until it has touched another player.
