Since Mrs LF left for pastures new, I've become a dab hand at this shopping and cooking lark.

I can easily feed myself for £23 a week, if you are smart. The 3 for £10 meat deal in Tescos can provide you with 7 meals easily, so then it just comes down to pastas, rices and veg. Also, and this isn't widely made public, the cheap brands in both Tescos and Sainsbury are no different to the named brands - you can save a shed load by going there.

Anyone know a good sauce recipe to go with trout?

I am a bit sad really.....

cant believe people still spend 2 hours driving to the shops then going round them etc.

Ocado - £9 per month - unlimited deliveries. easy !!

Bread and water - all you deserve LF. Preparation for the day when I ascend to power and the socialists have to live in Concentration Camps relocation settlements.

Hey, where is the option I am the female in the house and I do all the shopping.
God forbid if my husband wanted to come shopping with me, my bill would be triple what I normally spend.

Exactly right Tinks, I concur completely! You end up with all sorts of rubbish (cakes, crisps, sweets - oh this looks interesting!) in the trolley. I either go on my own, or occasionally with my daughter or I shop online. And Dave if you spend that sort of money for two of you, you're spending too much - I do about that for 4!

Can pick some interesting things at the farmers market that Tesco's don't stock!

Samphire, wood pigeon, wild boar, hare, rabbit, venison.

Luvverly :)

That's when my budget goes up cos I ain't buying chicken nuggets.

Thats cos the beer bill would be quadrupled at least (i hope)

I dunno the fuss you girlies make about a bit of shopping, it's easy, apart from when the sodding supermarket take upon themselves to move items into different aisles in an effort to tempt the gullible shopper to buy an item they wouldn't normally buy.

Samphire grows like a weed all around the coast of Essex.

Unfortunately I'm as far from the sea as you can possibly get. Go harvest me some and I'll buy it £1 a bag :)

I prefer to buy it from expensive foodie shops and markets.

Much more cachet and in this part of Essex a man is defined by what he spends, not what he earns!

My butcher was doing 8 venison half legs for £50......but that seems to deer to me!

£5 and you have a deal. I also sell charcuterie and can supply anything from Billy Bear sausage to gala pie.

Anyone else that wants to place an order with Essex Riviera gourmet foods please PM me.

why is the poll only from a mans perspective: surely "who does the shopping in your house" is a unisex question, but all the answer options refer to "I" or "the Mrs" - are women not allowed in this particular poll - or is there an assumtion that we women are all too busy doing the shopping to have time for such trivia .... ???
