Who remembers League Division 4?

Classic. Good to see the dreary seaside resort getting a result whereas ColU lost. Those were the days.

Used to love a Friday night game, stood in the paddock as a kid... a crowd of over 4000 was like 10,000 today

Some of them games being in the north bank when southend were attacking that end we’re great, big Jim stanards big drop kicks that used to bounce on the edge of the box and into the goalkeepers arms were massive.

Really enjoying these threads about the old times, both as a distraction from our current plight and a reminder of why we support the Blues (with apologies to the younger posters).

Who can forget Dave Smith and fortress Roots Hall

Yep, what a season. Only one I can remember since I started going to games in 67, when we had an unbeaten home record. W 19 D 4.
And i'm sure we didn't drop a home point until the 2nd half of the season. Fast forward to today, hopefully we're get our first home win, before the 2nd half of the season???.

I think the only home game we lost that season was against Hereford in the fa cup.
remember about 30 Hereford fans celebrating in a mixed (non segregated) south bank.
i was about 14 at the time!

I remember when the division was split up into North and South,.
