Well done to the Sparky.

Well, I've been attending matches at Roots Hall for nearly 48 years and I've never seen a complete pylon or two of floodlights go out before, the odd lamp or two, yes, but never like today.

Yes, same here, 40 odd years coming to matches and I've never seen a whole floodlight pylon go........presumably the others were taken off to allow the problem to be solved safely.

I heard from one of the stewards that another steward had accidentally (in the company of a director) hit a wrong switch but Dave Jobson had taken responsibility for this and it had been covered up.

if i remember ,back in the early 70s,the lights went out at a home game, when we had a generator running, coz of then ,power cuts/strikes!!!! one "cad" run onto the pitch, from the north bank with a lighter!! can anybody remember that???

It has happened before, 1968 or so. I was there but don't remember details.

This was arranged by ITV so their cameraman had more time to get over from Southampton.

From the "highlights" he clearly didn't make it.

I'd love to have been a fly on the wall behind the scenes. Even if it is about applying hindsight, our players and manager seemed to want it more: we were out before Millwall; we were warming up; we were training; we were there to do a job - and we did just that. Just one more tick in the box on an epic day for our club.

I was half expecting that the power on the turnstiles also had a failure. "Today's attendance is 1265 of which 2312 were from millwall, how much VAT is there on 1265 junior tickets?"

BBC sport says we signed Gomis . He said to end of season and with an option for next year. But he coudnt see in the dark that the contract rushed under his hooter included wages of £97.50 p.w.

What I don't like about floodlight failure that we would start the reply at 0-0 instead of carry on same score and minutes left of the match like Spanish league (designed to stop clubs from cheating by cutting their floodlight long time ago when they was losing in their vital match!).
