Why do we never have prolific goalscorers?

Top league scorers for the past 15 years - nobody since Eastwood has scored over 20 goals in a season and nobody apart from Cox has got more than 15 league goals since 2006. Do we buy strikers poorly? Should we ever have let Leon Constantine go? Are the fans an issue? Discuss.

19/20 - Kelman (5 goals)
18/19 - Cox (15 goals)
17/18 - Cox (10 goals)
16/17 - Cox (16 goals)
15/16 - Payne (9 goals)
14/15 - Corr (14 goals)
13/14 - Corr (12 goals)
12/13 - Assombalonga (15 goals)
11/12 - Mohsni (12 goals)
10/11 - Corr - (18 goals)
09/10 - Barnard (15 goals)
08/09 - Barnard - (11 goals)
07/08 - Barnard (9 goals)
06/07 - Eastwood (11 goals)
05/06 - Eastwood (23 goals)

If prolific is a 20 goal a season man then it isnt just us, there are a fair few teams without one of those. They are hard to find and a good price, hopefully young Charlie can do it

If prolific is 1 in 3 then i think we can achieve that and have in the past

I'm not sure many clubs do. Any forwards that do display a decent level of quality beyond a run of 5/6 games are usually purchased by bigger clubs. Just look at Norwood from Tranmere to Ipswich or Stockley from Exeter to PNE. Players have shorter contracts and clubs look to cash in on sales to prop up the club financially.

Because we cant pass to them. oh and we can only bang in a slow lofted 45 degree cross after about 5 mins of faffing

Cov, Rotherham and Wycombe all managed promotion without a 15 goal striker....lets call it 20 for the extra games.

Hopper was had settled in on about 7? when he got his season ender and who knows what Humprhys may have done without the need for the mask.

Only 5 players scored at least 20 goals in the 2018/19 League One season, they're pretty rare at this level.

I'd love to see how many have got ten at the halfway point at this level and moved on, my unresearched belief has always been that they move on!

Humphrey & Kelman can easily score 20 plus at League 2 level, just build an creative team around them!

More to the point, why were the likes of hooper, rammell, revell prolific scorers once they moved on. It surely wasnt all down to poor service.
