do the ******** stewards in the west try to ruin every single game. i have a seaso in the south upper but occassionally like to swap it to be with mates in the west from time to time, decided to this today and as soon as i got there just before KO they were already chucking people out! was in my seat as the very back row and was standing as was the rest of block W. they then decide to start checking poeples tickets as people are trying to watch the game in there seat. the whole of the first half kept on and on and on telling people to sit down including me and the people who i was with even though i was in the back row???

second half i go back to my seat but to be told by the same little ****ty steward with glasses and a tash (people in the west know the one) 'ermmmmmmmm can i see your ticket please.....i again showed him but he still asked everyone as they were trying to watch the second half. what he was trying to achieve is beyond me. again trying to watch a game of football but stewards always trying to make it about them. not all but most of them around there really are a bunch of jobs worths and think they are police or something. they should stop trying to ruin the game for the rest of the people.

It is a little strange that, not that i am affected cos we are right down the front of Block U, but how come the Forest fans stood the whole game and nobody appeared to say anything...

Seems a little strange to say the least?

I think it's to do with Jobson mroe then the stweards mate, They just trying not to lose the job as jobson sits on the cctv watchign everyone.

always the way with away fans, stewards scared to say a word yet very happy to wind us up, especially as the blue voice section in just trying to get behind the team, btw the flags at the front looked great tonight.

We were chatting to a steward briefly during the match, he said it was just their job (at least asking people to sit down, not sure on the ticket front - only known that to happen when people are complaining about someone in their seats) and that as much as they know standing means a great atmosphere, they have to do what they're asked to do.

Matty that little **** with the tash is a first class prick. i went to go past him about 2-3 home games ago he asked to see my ticket so i showed him my season card and he went to direct me to my seat when i just told him not to bother as ive sat in that seat for about 7 years

You lot know I sit in south lower, that means we use the loos at the back of the family stand on the end of the west stand. On the way in I stopped to go to the loo and got asked for my ticket! Couldn't believe it! Cue very terse reply and red faced steward mumbling something about it "being a new thing".

They were out in force last night and have to say were very zealous out the back of the west at half time. I wondered what was going on, sitting nearer the front (just behind S_S for my sins) when I looked up to the back could see loads of stewards amoungst everyone.

Ahem.....its a privilege to sit so near the legend that is S_S....isnt it...

hopefully the stewards will escort us from our seats next time after the scenes when I leave a couple of mins early on a weekday game....its always that rowdy lot in Row E.....lol....;)

i know its their jobs etc etc but its so annoying and i swear some of them just like to gets everyones back up. especially the little one with the tash

whilst some of the stewards are alright and freindly and simply do their jobs, there aer alot who walk around in groups think their more like hench men. it annoys me when they tell everyone to sit down, its like they want to get one up on people besides whats the harm.

its all down to how many people stand up. the stewards make us sit down because theres was not even 100 standing but there was about a 1000 forest fans standing. same goes for away games, if our entire away end stands then the stewards wont do anything, they aint gona throw out 1000 people.

Do you remember about 10 years ago when stewards used to essentially be diehard fans getting a free seaso and a couple of quid in the hand, and everything was, for the most part, all hunky-dory (unless you went to Rotherham - theirs have always been Nazis)?

Seems like nowadays everyone 'outsources' stewarding, which means that they're all 'professional' stewards who are either in it for the money or because they actually like being jobsworths. The standard of stewards at Orient is frankly disgraceful - we have exactly the same problems as you i.e. Stasi-esque policing of the home fans, whilst letting the away fans stand up set fire to newborn kittens in front of small children.

Turns out that, shock horror, most of our stewards are West Ham and Millwall fans (for the sharper-thinking SZers, there's a joke there...), or aren't even football fans at all (and therefore have the warped view of all such wrong'uns) and couldn't give a flying **** about Orient or the fans. All of which leads me to believe that being a fan of the club you're working at should be a prerequisite of gaining a job as a steward.

Most stewards at Roots Hall are Southend fans (I know I used to be one), the meatheads in the orange jackets are outsourced but they mainly work in the North Bank. The main problem is the stadium manager.
