1st there was the Wembley appearance of two years ago. 2nd the play off games against Burton last season. 3rd yesterdays promotion game. 4th now with a possible Wembley final in reach, has a team under his managership the sheer guts and mental strenght to be winners, or are our team, at the end of the day, the expert soft runners up?

Time will tell. In my opinion Brown must be judged over the next three games. It comes down to the joy of promotion or the sack.

Winners. Still believe.

So, if we get to Wembley and lose you would sack a manager?

Only time will tell if we are to make Wembley or not. The consensus from away match reports and what I have seen at recent home games is that battling to the end is something we specialise in, sides that lack bottle don't do that. Provided PB wants to stay, I would have him for another season regardless of the outcome of the play-offs. I think he has deserved another go for getting us into a potential auto place this year.

Don't think he will be sacked .Do believe he may quit .Sorry either way it will be bad for Southend united . Still got 2 possible 3 games left .And as I said yesterday if it wasn't for the playoffs we would now defo be playing in this league next season .So phil brown has got to some how rekindle his chargers .

Don't forget he got Hull City promoted to the Premier League through the play-offs.

I think yesterday the team were far too pumped up and eager to please. Everything we seemed to do was rushed and frantic. Our game plan before this match was built on patience and control. Not sure if that was Bown's fault or not.

I think yesterday's result could of totally knocked the stuffing out of us, that was our chance out cup final, mentally I'm not sure we can recover, hopefully we will and in a few days we wil be a bit more upbeat. Utb

Bottled it?

Wembley - poor team selection (by Coughlan) against far superior opposition from a league above
Burton in the play-offs - Narrowly beaten away from home and almost clawed it back in the second leg, against a side who have gone on to win the league this season
Yesterday - Poor performance yes, but only 1. It was the first time we'd been in the top 3 all season, to finish 5th, where we have been almost all season, is no failure, and certainly not bottling it.

If you really believe that they bottle it under pressure, why would you apply more pressure by saying they can't perform in big games?

Spot on Sam, said almost exactly the same. They will be feeling like **** this morning and reading some of the codswallop spouted on here, FB and Twitter is hardly going to help them get their heads right.

Think the point is, Burton lost at Wembley, yet this season under two managers have won the league. We got close and even now I'm shocked we lost yesterday, after 7 straight wins I was convinced we would win the 8th, but PB got a few things wrong yesterday which at times he has done during the season, arguably costing us points that might have seen us promoted. Yes we now have 2/3 games to try again, but if it goes wrong I'm not sure he is right for this club. He can't say that Ron hasn't backed him and by in large so have the fans, but he changed things yesterday when it wasn't necessary and paid the price. 580 miles, 15 hours round trip and I feel massively let down, my 10 year old was distraught last night on the way home like all of us. Just hope PB has the ability to pick the players up this week and pick the right team/formula to get us promoted.

In all fairness we had a very long day with no reward, people say and post a lot of stuff in the heat of the moment. But rightly so yesterday, we were let down massively on a day that promised so much. It's not the time to suggest PB should be sacked. But he has had two seasons working with these players and yesterday was another in a long line of odd selections and substitutions. We all have opinions that's why we post on here, but if it does go wrong over the next few weeks, then I find it hard to trust PB ability going forward.

We were never going to beat Morecambe. The statistics don't lie. Played 10, lost 9 drawn 1. We are a better team than Morecambe but we can't beat them, so there must be a reason. Their manager has worked out how to beat us? We believe in some superstitious hoodoo? We consistent underestimate them? Their small ground and small crowds create no atmosphere? Whatever the reason we should beat Morecambe. Why don't we.........?

The bookies take a totally unbiased view and have us as favorites to go up via the play off's. I go along with that

Jim Bentley tells his players I suspect a) Southend think they can never beat us and b) sets the team up for an early goal so a)becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. When Morecambe beat us at home they scored early.
