Well, I live in melbourne Australia and I'm sure it was only last year I had a beer with Willie. As far as I know he still helps his daughter run holiday units or a caravan park in Newcastle just up from Sydney. Should be just about due down here soon..... After leaving the shrimpers played a bit of football in Hong Kong and a little bit here in Melbourne.

Only one ? That doesn't sound like the real Willie Coulson.

Bless him, used to love Willie! (and for those that knew him, those cheeks in that smiley are more than appropriate!)

Spot on canveyshrimper and mcnasty.

Was working as a barman at the Smack Inn circa 1975 and was working on a Friday night, it was towards the end of the season and I had to miss a home game, looking at sufcdb it might have been April 11th, (2-0 against Swindon; Brace, Moody), and just before last orders in came Coulson and Cunningham, Willie came up to the bar and seeing the time ordered two pints of larger and two large pernod's sharing a small jug of water.

Not sure if they were playing that evening as there's no team sheet for the game but there was certainly more footy to be played that year and Willie already had a fine red nose

11th April 1975 v Swindon Town - 1.Webster 2.Dave Worthington 3.Taylor 4.Moody 5.Townsend 6.MacKenzie 7.Little 8.Brace 9.Lamb 10.Cunningham 11.Poutney Sub. Elliot

So yes Cunningham played but Coulson had not played since Feb that season & according to the records only played once more for Southend the following season at Millwall away.
