We have the normally decent referee Colin Webster from Tyne and Wear in charge of tomorrow's match. He is a Chartered Surveyor with an interest in property development; perhaps Ronald and he could have a bit of a chat before the match and he could tell Ron where he is going wrong.

In his 10th season, he has plenty of experience and gets many Championship matches. Once did 10 mins of a Premiership match when Graham Poll went off injured. He has been used in the end of season playoffs for the last two years

He has only done three Southend matches previously: one away at Chesterfield in 2000/1 (drew 1-1), one at home to Southampton in 2006/7 when we won 2-1, the other our 1-0 win at Huddersfield the year before last when he gave us a penalty which Barnard (remember him? sigh ...) dispatched.

He has always been low-ish with his card count.

Martin Dexter from Leicester and Ian Dudley from Notts will be assisting and 4th official duties will be undertaken by Tony Horton of Wolverhampton !!!!.

Forty two years ago a second round away League Cup tie at Wolverhampton was a precursor to a wonderful season of entertaining football, goals galore and really legendary players.

This year ?

A second round away League Cup tie at Wolverhampton will be a precursor to a dreadful season of attritional football, defeats galore and really forgettable players.

Ying and yang, innit.

Took the words right out of my mouth !

Isn't he a member of the Consortium? Cue a 7-0 defeat.
