When he stops carrying 35 yard free kicks over his goal line, he can criticise others.

Oh for goodness sake! The ref called the game off, as is HIS perogative, at 10am on the day of the game. Clubs can't take unilateral decisions to call off games. You seem to look for things to criticise. Get some Christmas spirit and CHEER UP!

Sounds like disappointment that the game wasn't on but typical ignorance of reality, the likes of which you might expect from a professional footballer/fan. The ref is the person solely responsible for calling off the game and if he decided it wasn't safe then the game could not go ahead.

Yes, we may have sent out slightly mixed messages by saying that the pitch was ready for play on it when we historically know that the South stand corners in particular often have problems in freezing conditions but ultimately we could say that we didn't think that it was playable and still end up playing the match if the ref thinks it is safe for play.

Please bore off if you have nothing intelligent to say

So I am calling off tomorrow's game ( even though it's not up to me ) , Barnet need not turn up. If --- big if--- the ref decides the match goes ahead what happens then ?

And if the game had gone ahead it would have been called off anyway beuuase of the 4 inches of snow that fell a couple of hours before kick off, I'm sure that would have been the clubs fault aswell though!

to be fair the club made everyone believe it would be on then last minute called it off. i know a lot of staff were unhappy about it and felt the whole thing wasn't dealt with proply and this has nothing to do with the ground staff either.

The club believed it would go ahead, then the referee decided to inspect the pitch and then called it off. Why can't people accept that the club has no determining factor either way as to whether the game goes ahead or not?

Threads like this really make me cross. Plenty of things have happened to our club in the last couple of years that haven't been good. Some of them have been beyond the influence of the club (e.g. the banking crisis) and some have been the result of weak management (e.g. certain aspects of the organisation of the club's finances). However, we need to support where we can and choose our battles when necessary, not just criticise blindly wherever we think there might be fault. If we take the latter approach, at best we become an irrelevance and, at worst, downright disloyal.

The club has plenty of determining factors. What they do to protect the pitch, when they call for an inspection, etc. What they do not have is any say in the decision which is at the sole discretion of the match official, or a more local one called in especially.

The club seem to have made an effort and cannot be criticised for that. They just happened to issue a ridiculously positive message the day before the match regarding prospects for play. This was misleading and I trust they will be more circumspect in future.

**** sake Ron, I will let him off for not building the stadium but you thought he would of sorted out that weather machine by now.
