Sorry Zoners slow day at the office so here's yet another Statto comparison which proves absolutely nothing but makes me look extremely busy at work.

So how are we doing this season compared to other promotion seasons?

Converting two points to a win to three where applicable this how we stood after 24 games in our previous promotion seasons:

1980-81 after 24 games 53 points +27 goal diff. final placing 1st (Dave Smith)
2011-12 after 24 games 49 points +21 goal diff. (Paul Sturrock)
1990-91 after 24 games 49 points +11 goal diff. final placing 2nd (Dave Webb)
1986-87 after 24 games 44 points +12 goal diff. final placing 3rd (Dave Webb/Paul Clark)
1971-72 after 24 games 44 points +11 goal diff. final placing 2nd (Arthur Rowley)
1977-78 after 24 games 43 points +11 goal diff. final placing 2nd (Dave Smith)
1989-80 after 24 games 41 points + 7 goal diff. final placing 3rd (Dave Webb)
2005-06 after 24 games 40 points +11 goal diff. final placing 1st (Streve Tilson)
2004-05 after 24 games 38 points + 3 goal diff. final placing 4th (Steve Tilson)

So at the moment the situation looks very rosy, but as all long suffering shrimpers know, we have a tremendous ability to c*ck things up.

Probably not but without checking every season can’t say for certain, but:

Pre 1958 only top side promoted and our best season was:
1931-32 after 24 games 37 points +9 goal diff. final placing 3rd (Ted Birnie)

After 1958 probably the late sixties was our best period’
1966-67 after 24 games 37 points +9 goal diff. final placing 6th (Alvan Wiliams)
1967-68 after 24 games 44 points +9 goal diff. final placing 6th (Ernie Shepherd)
1968-69 after 24 games 36 points +6 goal diff. final placing 7th (Ernie Shepherd)

Would you be able to work out the total points we got from each of those seasons as well?

And wasn't 04/05 the year we went up via the play-offs?
