Following on from the thread of the other day , had a look through the database at players who were trainees/ apprentices or youths who made first team appearances since I have been following the Shrimpers

I make it 57 in all of which 6 have gone on to make over 100 appearances for the club
Over half made less than 10 starts

How many made top flight appearances?

Clark, Edinburgh, Prior, Taylor all did.

The only two others who might have, would have been Nelson at Charlton and Pennyfather, although I've forgotten where he ended up.

Pennyfather went onto Palace, Ipswich and Bristol City. None of which were in the top division.

Palace then Ipswich wasnt it? Though dont recall him playing in prem so he may have left just before each went up...

Also, how many did we sell for money...Edinburgh, Onieura, Prior, Taylor, Roget.....Would guess they have fetched about £600,000 between them? (£150,000,£??, £350,000, £??, £50,000?)

Makes me shudder to think of how Dave MCSweeney managed to play 92 times for the club.Cant believe Fat Fitz made 49 appearance too....
