even if pb see 250k of that fee he has the experience to find the players to get us out of this league, money always helps, I'm sure pb could do a lot with 250k eh:thumbsup:

250k wouldnt pay much more than two players on 1k per week on two year deals. (or pay for 4 for one year and then hope we dont go bust in the second!)

All it would really do is mean our budget is a bit bigger, which would of course help us carry a few extra bodies but by no means guarantee promotion.

Would take £2m+, a guaranteed friendly over the next two seasons (Two full crowds brings in £££'s), two decent loanees and them loaning him back to us for this season.

To be fair anything over a £100k with some add ons built in would be a great deal for us. When was the last time we sold a player for a 6 figure sum?

and let's not get to swept up in the hysteria. Bentley seems to have the potential to be a decent keeper, but he's no more than an average lower league keeper at present...if a bigger club (or West Ham) want to offer some cash and take a chance on him then we should bite their arm off......I'd be much more concerned if we lost Leonard, Hurst, Corr, or even White or Coker right now. They would be a bigger loss to the current squad for this season.

How would £100k plus add-ons be "a disgrace" for a Division 4 goalkeeper? He might develop into a top level player, he might not. That's why the deal would be performance and future profit based...who is seriously going to come in and pay £2m cash up front for a division 4 player unproven at a higher level?

Why would he be worth so much more than Hall or Ferdinand?

DB has his feet on the ground, chalk and cheese him and Mohsni who ended up in a crappy scottish league, probably earning well but the standard of football is crap. There is a severe shortage of talented english keepers, just ask Roy Hodgson how many under 25's are on the radar.

It was in response to the club being millionaires and having money to burn.

They wont just throw money around for the sake of it.

You may be right about the shortage ...... but do club managers do not need to consider the nationality of the keeper other than getting a work permit (and possible international duties)? Hence, I'm not sure that having a dearth or overabundance of English goalies is a feature of the price that would be paid for Dan's services.

Personal opinion, they can have him sharpish....never seen such an over rated cat. Even against lower league Braintree, first goal fell in a heap, never makes himself big......will end up where he started.......with us!

All this talk about something thats not happening, and if it was "so what" good luck to the lad. we still have a very capable keeper in Smith snr and understudy in Smith jnr..and any money we get can only be of help to the club.

This is why I cant stand rumours, people just hear any old nonsense and thing there must be truth in it, it then gets spread.
