Didn't see that in the article, only had his name at the time.

Well known at the club, on the local martial arts scene and locally in general

Well that's blown my theory about people who receive training in combat like martial arts also getting the appropriate training in discipline and not going around smacking people...

Used to be the case, by-and-large, nowadays they all seem to think they are UFC or MMA fighters and get involved in the scene to knock people about a bit.

I'm surprised they released the name. I thought you was innocent until proven guilty !
Ask Lord Bramall that. Incidentally, on that subject, when people such as him are found innocent, those making false accusations should get 5 years themselves.

Rightly or wrongly, somebody has taken it upon themselves to grass this man to the police so they must be very proud of themselves this afternoon. I can envisage what kind of person/people these are, without getting too political I could almost certainly pinpoint a few of their other beliefs too.

For me and this is just my personal opinion and feeling towards this thread, but I personally frown more upon the person/people that have provided these details towards this arrest more than the man who attacked like minded thugs. Yes I agree that you can't go around committing this act at a football match and within a football stadium, even more so in these day's of social media, camera fans and face painted fans in all seater stadiums. Our sport has come a long way to provide a nicer match day atmosphere and an entertainment for the masses although for some football isn't the same as the good old days.

Despite my acknowledgement that the act was not lawful, part of me was happy to see this chap respond in the way he did (although I am sad that it will play such a negative part in his life now) but at least he stood up for himself after an hour of solid provovaction and being the receipient of coins hitting our area. The Southend fans seemed to be angry at the charging Colchester fans who swiftly returned to the North Bank at the sight of these Southend supporters. At least these fans actually had a pair to do what the police and stewards couldn't do......a small bit of protection and retribution for our club, stewards and particularly the fans being under threat in the X and W blocks.

I look forward to hearing about the Colchester fans that will almost certainly be arrested now as well.

Let's hope they arrest and charge the multiple Colchester fans who punched the stewards and Bolger. If they don't, the law is most definitely an ***

He is known to the club, who says they needed anyone to "grass".

He did what he did, however they caught up with him means little.

I do wonder what the opinions of people would be if a Col U fan had come over and started punching people in X block.

Hopefully the same....if Southend fans were scummy enough to launch coins at the opposing fans, attack stewards and assault a player :whistling:

On the face of it that doesn't necessarily mean a whole lot. For example, I'm a company director. In fact I'm the only director of my own company.

I am also a company director.

But it wasn't me that charged Colchester. I learned my lesson against Torquay Youth.

At least he settled a long standing debate. At RH the best form of defence is attack

MMA isn't really a real martial art, it has more in common with boxing (competition focused, no belt system, little emphasis on self defence, competition encourages brutal attacks which would be illegal in other competitions) than traditional martial arts, and so definitely attracts a different crowd.
