Promotion and relegation 2019/20 season

That won't happen. Those at the bottom of the prem won't want relegation if they had a chance to stay up. It's worth millions.

Those in the champ play off spots wouldn't accept it either. Someone like Brentford could lose out a 180 million windfall.

Voiding across the board is possibly the only solution.

Indeed- Aston Villa 2 points behind with a game in hand. On a points per game basis they would be told you would get 0.89 points in that extra game you are down. Bournemouth would go down on a 1 goal goal difference...yet the clubs will have very different run ins, maybe even relatively more home games verses away games.

They would have to unfortunately go to the previous years competitors.

Its not fair at all but it's the only way.

Liverpool would retain their european title despite being knocked out.

It's a mess but it's the only way to have some kind of fairness.

Simplistic, but generally speaking clubs that have done well want points per game. Clubs that have done badly want voiding.

Should clubs that have done badly be rewarded or should clubs that have done well be rewarded?

There'd be legal channels to that. Can't use previous seasons
 
At the moment we see life at its best and worst with not much middle ground. Unfortunately we know that football comes in the latter category - look at the odious Mike Ashley at Newcastle for example

Indeed it seems to me the health of the employees (players, coaches, staff, medical staff etc. etc. who also have families) is virtually ignored in deciding what the outcome should be.
 
Working now in the health sector it seems incredible that football clubs think they are immune to this. No way that the season will finish. The only real sense is coming from the clubs down the leagues.. as usual.

The season has to replay next year, and I would cancel European competition for a year to give everyone a break for the Euros in 2021.
 
The National League is ending the season now and have reached out to the FA for clear advice on how they want that to be implemented. Will put huge pressure on FA/EFL as for the first time guidance will be needed be given on how to implement season closure and it will instantly be taken as the blueprint for Championship, L1 and L2 (EFL will be utterly desperate not to allow such guidance, and if they do be desperate to say it wont apply outside National League, however the EFL can't avoid the impact as they will have to decide what happens to Stevenage and Barrow- and the National League want answers now as they want to sort contracts, furlough players etc etc to stay alive). Watch this space..

Yep, things could start moving quite quickly towards a resolution of some sort in the next few weeks I feel.
 
There is also a very real risk that due to the current necessary attempts to manage the growth in spread so that the the NHS doesn’t get swamped that these will then be released and a second and maybe third smaller peak will happen. Vaccines are still a long way off and so the strategy is still is to minimise, but accept there will be, deaths. If the current peak hits May/June we may well get another in say September.
 
Having read copious threads on the subject, the one that seems fairest is voiding the season.
The only demurrers will be those in with a chance of promotion and/or titles.
But as that's going to be around 20 out of 116 (National League included) then the numbers favour the majority.
The only thing that will save this season is playing behind closed doors, and cash compensation from somewhere to make it happen.
Why do I doubt football/government authorities will cough up?
 
With what's going on just have no interest left in this season.The thought of sitting in a packed stand at this moment in time seems ludicrous and a million miles away .The football authorities really need a dose of realism for once .If we are following Italy and Spain they are still weeks away from any normality of life ,and a Sept return seems even optimistic.
As for the Premier League their arrogance and greed is sickening at the present time

Equally unfair.
There's a bit of the cynical me wondering whether non-league thinks it can run roughshod over the lower tiers because they won't have the legal clout (ie money) to challenge the decision.
