Dirty Harry
Should this thread be about just movie scores, that is original music written specifically for the film in question. And not films whose soundtrack is a collection of existing singles and album tracks bought by the film company for the film.
I know it is a little pedantic, but there is a distinction.
I like the recent Hans Zimmer soundtracks collaborations with Christopher Nolan, though the highlight of his career was appearing in the video for Video Killed The Radio Star by The Buggles. He also produced and played synth on The Damned's single History Of The World, Part 1.
Did you hear him on your wireless back in 52?I’ve seen Hans Zimmer play live. Quite incredible if you get the chance especially him playing Driving Miss Daisy on the piano. And yes he played Video Killled with Trevor Horn.

John Waynes , The Alamo .
Virtually anything by Morricone or John Barry. My favourite being the Ipcress File.
I hate it when you hear a snippet of a great soundtrack like Morricone's Ecstasy of Gold, which is the finale to TG,TB&TU, used on a coffee advert.
Off topic in terms of soundtracks, but local angle - the girl acting (not singing) in this Tindersticks track went to Appleton School, Benfleet (they are from Nottingham, I think the onlt connection was she worked in a Rough Trade shop).I liked Tindersticks in The Sopranos:
Good shout, music certainly blends well with some wonderful cinematography, puts me in mind of "Last of the Mohicans" which also has some big orchestral moments.Dances with wolves.
