After two impressive home wins on the bounce, we’re back on the road making the shortish journey round the M25 to Borehamwood to play Boreham Wood F.C.

Luke Garrard’s side currently sit a point and a couple of places below us in the league. They had been on an indifferent run of form with only one win in seven league games before Tuesday night when they came from behind to win at Daggers 3-1.



Diminutive Portuguese midfielder Érico Sousa seemed to be the catalyst for Tuesday’s win, creating one and scoring one of their goals and seems to be a player to watch.

The Wood, who share their stadium with Arsenal ladies and youth teams, play on a hybrid pitch as described by @Smiffy below ( http://www.shrimperzone.com/forums/...-28th-october-15-00-ko-nl.116685/post-2686846 ) - hopefully a more natural surface than the 5g pitches at Dorking and Bromley where we lost earlier this season.

Subject to any injuries not known about at the time of writing, it would seem that we’ll probably field an unchanged side with National League embargo rules still hampering Kev’s ability to shuffle the pack or to name returning injured players, such as captain Nathan Ralph, when the players registered to replace them are in the squad. Mystery still surrounds the non appearance of Dan Mooney who left the field at Yeovil with a stomach upset and hasn’t been in a squad since. Hopefully it’s only a few more games until the takeover is completed, Ron’s historic debts paid off by the consortium and we can start to operate like a normal football club again.

In the meantime who would you choose to start on Saturday and what do you predict the result will be?

I'm sure kev and Co know what and who they want and asap , I just can't see a future at sufc for a couple of players once the embargo is lifted.
So the starting 11 is the one that will give everything ... after Saturday a well earned rest for all ...

That is one area that is very clear in the rules a previously injured player and their replacement cannot be named in same match day squad. Seems reasonably fair as the squad size increases when bringing in a replacement, so cannot benefit from that increase squad size when injured player recovers.

There is nothing in the rules about switching what player the injured player is - for example could Brook now replace JD and hence Ralph and Brook be named in same squad.

If we can weather the national League hurricane (deduction and embargo) and get another couple of wins, then I really fancy us for the play offs.

These are the type of games where we really need to somehow find a way to win.

We are definitely due a win at their place.

FYI @Shrimpergarry the BW pitch isn't artificial as such. It's grass with woven fibres to give it added strength. So more a hybrid than plastic and very different to Bromley & Dorking (Thankfully!). It will play like a highly maintained grass pitch.

It's the same surface as what is (or was) at the new FF training ground, before it was left to die by Ron. The BW training pitch behind the stadium is artificial 5G however.

Don't know the terms on which Brooklyn is playing. Similarly, Martin was emergency cover for Collin then Hayes was emergency cover for Collin when Martin got unjured.

I can understand how other clubs are questioning our ability to get players in, because of how it looks, but to be fair, we are threadbare due to the embargo and injuries, and if the league had any commitment to player welfare they would approve requests due to the obvious fact we have hardly any subs and those we have are being thrown into games. Sure, we are making the most of the rules a little with keeping Hayes when Martin could play, but both WERE only emergency non contract cover as we have no keeper for a while and we haven't put them both in the matches squads together.
Just my personal view, but I feel the NL decision makers are uncaring txssers!
however it doesn't help our cause I'm the league's eyes if any registered player who is actually fit makes themselves unfit for purpose.

It seems a minefield of the national Leagues creation. They are quite militant and if we achieve promotion this season it would be very much a middle finger to their draconian rule book.

Regardless of where they are in the league they are always a robust team (code for kicking the **** out of footballing sides) and we will need to match them on the well hard side. I'd be happy with a point, and anything else will be a bonus. Another down side is the artificial turf which we do tend to struggle on. That sounds all very pessimistic, but we do need to heed the signs and not just rock up and expect to take the points without a struggle.

Going into the season, beating Borehamwood is always something I want us to do. They are just that type of club and team that get to you. Going one nil down to them is worse than a Ron Martin tax return. We have to get the first goal.

We do really well against the footballing sides but do struggle against the physical teams. Without Miley in midfield, I do worry about losing the physical battle. Especially with our midfield looking dead on its feet.

Kev just has to rally them and say, one more big push lads and a two week break beckons.

They like to play the wingback system like us and have a dangerous player in Sousa. Let's hope our wingback pushes him back into his own half instead. I really rate their keeper Ashmore so we will have to have our shooting boots on. Wes, no more pea rollers if it falls to you.

Heart says 2-1 blues but head says cagey 1-1.

At the moment we are still in survival mode and real progress can’t be measured until the embargo is lifted and we are once again on a level playing field.

However, players like Coker and Wood have come on leaps and bounds which is progress in itself.
