Accrington were by far the better side. First to everything, chased us down and seemed to be playing with an extra man. I thought they were a very well organised unit. Not to much to report on from us. We had a good spell at the start of the second half and Hall scored a good free kick - the floodlights were not that great but it looked like it went directly in from his free kick?

Mix up with Barker and Morris for the second and the penalty looked from where I was standing very harsh and a dive and very unfair to book Moshni who was then sent off for a second yellow - no doubt he smashed up the changing room as he was on a mission last night!

Great effort by those who made the trip up and then had a miserable trip back home, Stockport Shrimpers were lucky to be home by 10.20pm!

See you all at Port Vale!

The Stats from last night.

Shots on target: 1 (Hall's goal)
Shots off target: 0
Corners: 0

That's 1 win in the last 9 now. Thank god we had that little run after xmas, or we would be in danger of slipping into the Blue Square.

We have also conceeded first in 26 of the 40 games we have played. Joint worst in the entire top 4 divisions in English football.

Coming from the guy that was on first name terms with the food bar staff!!!

Game was dire to be honest, almost as bad as the ground. 3-1 flattered us as they hit the bar twice, Morris made a couple of decent saves and they had a couple of decent efforts fly just wide. Hall's goal, our only shot on target took a deflection off the wall and squeezed in the corner despite the keeper getting a hand to it. Mohsni is in danger of becoming more of a liability than an asset to the team. Needlessly ran 20 yards to get involved in a fracas first half and got a pointless booking that ultimately cost him his place on the pitch. I realise it wasn't a foul or pen for the second card, but when he collects these petulant bookings such as the one in the first half, he's immediately at the mercy of the officials. He needs to grow up quickly if he's to progress.

Whole team looked lethargic and like they didn't want to be there - a worrying trait that started and has been there (bar 45 minutes against Hereford) ever since they weren't paid 2 months back.

I thought the home fans were really good, pretty much sung throughout, bar 10/15 minutes after we scored.

Ratings FWIW;

Morris: 7.5 did well to keep the score down, unlucky with 2nd as Barker got in the way after he called for it.
Clohessy: 6 Ok going forward, but looks shaky at the back, didn't help that last night's system often left him exposed 2 on 1.
Prosser: 6.5 Was ok, a couple of slips and lucky not to be sent off for a reckless tackle at half time.
Barker: 6.5 Not too bad, seems a lot less decisive than earlier in the season, at fault for the second goal, not sure if he didn't hear Morris call (we did in the stands) or thought he'd clear it anyway, but should of left it for Morris to collect.
Mohsni: 5.5 Needs to sort his head out, he can't keep collecting these ridiculous bookings, they are costly and he's becoming a liability. First half gave away possession a lot and barely won a header/tackle....second half much improved and was unfairly dismissed after winning the ball in the box.
Comingues: 5 A passenger for much of the game. Didn't seem sure of which position he was playing in either.
Ferdinand: 6.5 Most attacking midfielder first half unlucky with a couple of runs into the box. Faded second half.
Grant: 6.5 Played the defensive role last night allowing Kane to roam, gave the ball away a lot first half undoing his good defensive work. Constantly running though even when most around him had given up.
Hall: 6.5 Scored, but barely got a ball into the box and struggled to beat his man. It seems teams have worked out if they snuff him and Corr out; they have pretty much got the beating of us.
Asante: 6 Good endeavour first half trying to attack the Accrington back line, but faded badly in the second, probably should have been brought off for Sturrock earlier.
Corr: 6 Won a few headers, but no-one seemed to be around to pick up on them - probably would have worked better with Blair today. Got minimal service, and was left isolated up top on his own.

Blair: 5.5 A few good touches, a few terrible ones. Was probably a game he should of started.
Soares: N/A don’t think he even touched the ball.

Worrying that in the last three games we've only been able to hit the target 5 times. I'm also getting tired of Sturrock banging on about the players fitness, for the first half of the season we've been hearing how they're not fit due to no pre-season, and then for almost the entire second half of the season he's been moaning about how tired they are. So if we're to go by PS, our entire squad have been unfit and tired for the entire season - begs the question; what is he been doing in training with them all season then? Why can't he just admit that sometimes the team simply isn't good enough. Last night we were completely outplayed by a better team with more ability and desire, no amount of fitness would have changed that.

It's a drab end of season run in we're having, but at least we're safe!

Definately! We've been so poor recently, very concerned.

As for the ground, possibly the worst I've ever been too! Accrington looked a fairly decent side though and deserved the win overall.
Corr seemed to have 2/3 men on him whenever he got the ball! Still won his headers, even if no one was on the end of them(same all season). Moshni, a lunatic in the first half, much improved 2nd and unlucky for the penalty, won the ball from where I was standing. Barker at fault for the second, Morris called for the ball. Apart from Hall's free kick (deflected?) he just couldn't beat his man. Clohessy getting outnumbered time and time again, whether that's down to positioning of the defense or lack of support from the right sided midfielder, not sure.
We're just too predictable as a team! Need some fresh faces in the summer, big time.

Worrying that we are ending the season so badly, reminiscent of last season. Is it coinciding with wages problems? The players dont seem to be putting the same effort in and Luggys excuses are becoming tiresome.
Difficult to see us doing anything but struggle next season, no real momentum from this season to carry into next. The fact we brought on Blair and Sores to try and win the game shows how pants are squad depth is.

To be honest, Mohsni was lucky not to see red against Aldershot so this is probably divine retribution.

The Cheese pie was nice! Floodlights and ref should be reported to the football league.

A lot of referees these days show a yellow card to defenders who concede a penalty, when they wouldn't have carded a similar tackle elsewhere on the field. This is wrong and there is no justification for it within the Laws.

Mind you, if he hadn't shown the card for the tackle, he'd only have to have waited about one second to show it for the dissent that followed the penalty award.

we were not at our best great goal from Ryan hall then a mix up between barker and morris and a peno and red that i cant believe!

Quality day out though part from the result

Next season we will have a good push at the playoffs (At least) but for this season we are safe

Of course had the officials got the decision right in the first place this would be a moot point. However, the simple fact that Mohsni get's involved in and goes mental at every little fracas is the bigger problem, the more he behaves like this, and the less time he spends on the pitch as a result of this behaviour; the more tempting Blackpool's 250k looks.

Was never a penalty, Mohsni got the ball and the bloke fell over his own feet. Having said that Mohsni could easily have got a straight red for his first booking, much like the one he was dismissed for at Barnet, it wasn't his battle and he got involved.

Not too good, then ?

The lights were akin to Southchurch Park and the ref was poor for both sides. Also being so short once the ball went above about 10 feet and above the level of the lights he had no idea where it was!

This tends to be a recurring theme with Bilel. We all know he's a character, and it's admirable that he battles for the team rather than the individual, but these reactions have to stop.
