Interested to read the post match views from the game today - a goalless draw away from home. Yes against the bottom of the league so you would have hoped for more but not a disaster. And yet the comments castigating player and manager for their performances and the complete turnaround from a few short weeks ago when player and manager could do no wrong and plays off chances were being bandied around got me thinking:

Isn't the truth often somewhere in the middle?

Looking at the table today we have got two games in hand on most and are 6 pts away from 11th place. And then do the players and manager become perfect once more? And do we continue in this cycle for the rest of the season?

Should be not just accept:

1) The club is still in flux with the deal not completed

2) Our strikers are either fresh from injury or new to the team - they will need time.

3) Our players and management staff are neither as perfect as being suggested a few weeks ago or as inept as being suggested today?

In short - we are unlikely to go down and unlikely to go up. So should we start thinking a bit more medium term and not reacting so strongly after each game?

Spot on.

Its a point away. Now win at home. Get the basics done and pull away back to mid table. Lots of games left, we're playing some good stuff just keep supporting the boys and itll come.

Is Ron still here? %&#@

After Tues game at Maidenhead, 5 of our following 6 games are at home. After those let's see where we are in the table, when we're have a better idea of whether we're end up mid table, or be in a proper relegation dogfight?.
Yep. This is without doubt Kev’s biggest test yet. He’s been a legend, all these players have .. but now reality is kicking in and just maybe .. the foot has come off the pedal just a bit.

I’m assuming the elusive attacking midfielder/s on the whiteboard were unobtainable or Kev didn’t want them.. he clearly doesn’t fancy Jack Wood in that position. I refuse to believe nobody’s identified players who can get goals and assists from MF. Or maybe it’s been decided it’s best to wait til summer.

We need the players and fans to keep pulling together just a bit longer. It’s ALL about getting to safety now as quick as possible.

We need to get to 52 points though. After Maidenhead our next 3 matches are against sides in the top 7. Games in hand meaning nothing, especially when the side is low in confidence and not scoring. Time is a luxury you don't have in an end of season relegation battle.

And we often play better against better sides because the standard is better.

The recent frustration is down to the fact that for the first time in ages we don’t have the excuse of an embargo or Ron anymore. This isn’t the team we got relegated with, it’s a far better team with a a really good team spirit. The reality is we all expected us to push on after the events of recent months. Truth is we’ve taken our foot off gas and we’ve looked tactically inept on a number of occasions.

The fact that we played the team bottom of the league and our goalkeeper made team of the week as we scraped a draw is always going to cause people to worry.

They are 5 points adrift at the bottom, the table would beggar to differ.

Brooklyn Kabolongo was an inspired appointment for them. He dominated their penalty area, cutting out so many of our crosses into the box. The on loan goalkeeper from Wigan arrived just hours before the match and was a great improvement on Brzozowski.

We should have played them the previous week......
