Once a translator can be found who speaks arabic and scottish ............ ........ perhaps a job there for Paul Sturrock?

To be fair to him, Mohsni has learnt a fair enough of English although he did have a lot of time to learn while hopping on trains. Still amazes me how Tevez has been here in this country for so long (7 years I think) and still needs a translator, while Beckham was giving interviews in Spainish at one point and he is mocked by everyone as being thick!

Hope Rangers do sign him up, would be nice to see him explode away from our club!

Bilel will become a cult hero up there. I can foresee some amusing pictures of him in full scots regalia, kilt and all.

Mohsni

Just seen on Sky sports news Mohsni is in contract talks with Rangers.

Can we do a sweepstake for how long it will be until the next Mohsni thread?

My guess is 14 hours.

Very wrong. Not sure if your opinion is due to what happened with him while at Southend but he can play at a much higher level

On purely footballing ability then yes I'd agree. Inevitably though he will once again self-destruct somewhere down the line. You wouldn't exactly have to be Mystic Meg to know that we'll all be looking back in 10 years time saying what a shame it was what Mohsni wasted his talent.

Glad he's gone.

How can be wrong ? I don't think I actually expressed an opinion. All I did was ask a question...... I left it to others to answer. I actually hope he does well, and deals with his attitude and temper. He has bags of potential if he can deal with his weaknesses.

If he is so clearly able to play at a higher level, why isnt he? Not like he hasnt trialled for anyone.

He's been a little unfortunate I think. I imagine that both he and West Ham assumed that we'd accept their bid last summer. He then went to Ipswich who changed their manager and fell victim to the rules covering the number of loanees in a matchday squad. He's now in a good position to get a contract with a club who claim to be the most successful in the World and who have 40,000 people at their games every other week.

Don't forget he turned up for a trial at Forest only to be told to turn around because their manager had been sacked the previous day!

Certainly at a big club if he goes there. IF you are going to play at lower league level in Scotland then Rangers is the club to do it! Whether he is kept on when they climb the leagues remains to be seen.

He obviously has some talent but is far from showing he can do it at higher levels just yet.

He has had some luck, he would have certainly been a West Ham player if we hadnt asked for more, but how likely is it he would have got anywhere if they werent prepared to offer more than 150k? With Ipswich wasnt he the 6th loan player and being left out of the squad?

Rangers I think is a good club for him to be at, its a low level but with a guarantee of promtion to higher levels, if he can do well then he can ride up with their success.

Seems Luggy has no hard feelings about Bilel.

Paul Sturrock tells Rangers: Bilel Mohsni can be the new Madjid Bougherra

DUNDEE UNITED legend Sturrock recommended the Algerian to Rangers five years ago and believes trialist Mohsni can do a similar job.

PAUL STURROCK urged Walter Smith to sign Madjid Bougherra five years ago and his advice proved invaluable as the Algerian helped Rangers to a hat-trick of SPL titles.

Now the former Scotland star has turned super scout for the Light Blues again by tipping them off about Bilel Mohsni who he reckons can be even better than Bougherra.

Dundee United legend Sturrock brought the French-Tunisian stopper to Britain when he signed for Southend from French non-league outfit Sainte-Genevieve Sports three years ago.

Mohsni’s versatility made him a key player for the Shrimpers where he was even moved from defence to play as an emergency striker at one stage and didn’t let Sturrock down with 14 goals.

Ally McCoist wants to land the free agent on a permanent deal and is set to hold talks with the 25-year-old who impressed again on his second run-out in Wednesday’s friendly win over Elgin City.

After that match the Gers boss said: “Belil did well again at Elgin and we’ll have a wee chat with him and his agent in the next 24 hours. We’ll see if we can maybe take things a little bit further.

“No decision has been made yet and I want to hear his views as well. It’d be good to know if he has enjoyed himself and if he’d like to stay. He has certainly impressed.”

A move to West Ham looked on the cards when Mohsni was at Southend but it fell through and the player lost his way.

But Sturrock has no doubts he’d be a huge asset to the Ibrox men despite admitting he can be temperamental.

With the Hammers rumoured to be interested again, Sturrock urged the Light Blues to move quickly and tie up a deal, insisting Gers won’t be disappointed with a player who has all the qualities of former fans’ favourite Bougherra.

Luggy said: “I recommended Bilel to Rangers. I had Bougherra at Sheffield Wednesday and Walter phoned me about him at the time so when I heard Rangers were looking for a centre-back I gave them a phone about this boy.

“When I spoke to Ally I told him he’s as good as Bougherra and I firmly believe that. In fact, I believe certain aspects of his game are actually better than Bougherra’s.

“I signed him from a French non-league team after a trial game at Southend. To be fair, he was a revelation at first but he was due to go to West Ham and the deal fell through and he ended up loan at Ipswich for three months.

“When he came back he was a wee bit disillusioned and he got released so he was a free agent. I’m quite friendly with him and his agent so we sorted it out that he’d go up to Rangers.

“He’s fantastic in the air at both ends of the park. He played on the wing for me quite regularly, coming in at the back post. His aerial threat is incredible. He was signed as a centre-back but we had injuries to strikers and he ended up playing front for us – and scored 14 goals!

“He knows where the back of the net is and he had a couple of chances for Rangers. He comes with a bit of baggage, he’s a bit of a hothead and can be a bit temperamental.

“He can get a bit excited at times but he’s got as good attributes as Bougherra. Bougherra probably had a better bedding down in England than what this boy’s had as he went from Crewe to Sheffield Wednesday to Charlton and then Rangers but Mohsni hasn’t played above League Two.”

Sturrock admitted seeing a £150,000 bid knocked back by West Ham resulted in Mohsni falling away but wouldn’t be surprised if, as McCoist said, the Premiership side are still interested.

Luggy said: “He was close to signing for them and it wouldn’t surprise me if Big Sam felt he still had the qualities to do a job. He’s great in the air, two-footed, has a range of passing and he’s quick.

“He’s not well known in Britain. He went to West Ham and did very well and they made a verbal offer but we couldn’t agree terms with them and it fell through otherwise he’d be on a contract at Upton Park.

“That’s the kind of standard we’re talking about so it would be a big coup for Rangers if they could somehow agree a deal. They’re playing in the Second Division right now but this boy’s got everything so to get him in at that level would be great.

“He needs a home and an arm around him at times but he’s got all the attributes to be a top-class defender. Ally has got the right character for him and impressed in the games against Brora and Elgin.

“It’s a no-brainer. He’s a quality player and needs a platform to push on and show it.”

Interesting that Big Sam is still looking at him. Surely PB would of had a word in his ear about him. Rangers yes I think if they keep him under control he will do well. He would not play much or any part what so ever in West Ham's team.
