SOUTHEND United defender Rob Kiernan will be missing for at least the next two months after having an operation on his knee.

How bad must a manager be to sign not one but two injured players? Before anyone says, yes it has been confirmed that we knew both Turner and Kiernan were injured when they signed

Good enough to get continuous improvement out of the club each year he has been here.

But yes, it is fair to say that these signings have not worked out as we might have hoped.

Just in time for the promotion push to gain proper momentum. It's all starting to come together.

It's between the medical staff and the chairman at the end of the day. The medical staff advice whether or not it's a risk, and the chairman decides whether it's a risk worth taking... Sure PB may have some influence but if it's an underlying issue that hasn't been found, fault lies with the medical staff...

The improvement since being in L1 is minimal. I still say this minimal improvement is despite PB. We could have done so much better without him. He's a hindrance as far as I'm concerned. As long as people are happy with the way he is, the way he does things, the things he says, then he's got a job. People are far too blinkered. Look at his whole managerial career, it's the same thing over and over again

Don't keep me on the edge DWB.
Are you a fan of Browns or not ??

'Improvement' is always going to 'slow' as you go up the leagues with respect.

In L2 we had a relatively larger budget and were a relatively bigger club, that is not the case in L1 and would be even less the case in the Championship.

One can only wish Rob Kiernan well and feel sorry for the lad who was probably desperate to get his career back on track and we all hope he can make a speedy recovery and come out all the stronger for it in the new year. Good luck Rob, push on and keep your pecker up, good times will return !!

I don't understand why we signed Turner but maybe if we waited until January to sign Kiernan another club would have come in for him, so as long as he comes good in the end I won't be too annoyed about that one.
