Wonder what odds you could get on Brown or any manager in the lower leagues seeing out a 3 year contract

He'll be here, for the opening of our new amazing stadium, which will be build around springtime !!

If Brown sees out this deal (unlikely I suspect - contracts for managers seems to mean very little), that would make him our longest serving manager, right? Or would it only equal Tilly?

Harry Warren, 14 years; Ted Birnie 12 years.

Tilson was here for 6 and a half years, Brown would be here for just over 5 if he stays until the end of his contract.

I'd love to see Brown here for longer than his 3 years contract extension. In my eyes he's the man to give us success in the future and by far a better manager than Tilly tactically. Don't get me wrong, I loved Tilly BUT Brown is a very good manager and will always grind out results....

I wonder how different peoples opinions would be on here, if we hadn't won that playoff, though ! #justsaying

That's a very good point. I just think that Tilly (or whoever) found a certain Mr Eastwood who won us promotion twice, Brown didn't have a 25 goals a season deadly striker but we still reached the playoffs.

I look at Browns tactics very similar to Webby. I remember (at times) we played some poor games yet still got results. For me that's a sign of a good manager.

Exactly ! Same applies to Tilly. Some supporters are so fickle.

I agree with Leoblue, mind. I've been impressed with PB's tactics etc. Successful teams are built around the defence first. Clean sheets are essential. Even when his substitutions haven't worked, I can see why he's done it. How many managers would have ditched Weston because the boo boys were on his back ? He stuck by the lad because he offers pace and wingplay which can hurt teams when they are tired. In hindsight, this worked a treat in the playoff final.

Spot on. We don't see great games with flowing football all the time like we did under Tilly, but how many did we lose in our championship season.

Good managers grind out results and make the right choices in a game... Mr Ferguson done that exactly, many a time I watch Man Utd and thought this is crap yet they go on to win by keeping a clean sheet.

The other thing I'm curious about is RM backing. We seem to have a big back room staff these days, sports science guys, goal keeping coaches, fitness guys, an under 21 team, reserve team, diet specialists, it seems to go on and on and I've never known such a thing with us or indeed a lower league club.

My opinion from the start of season was always if he fails in promotion he goes. Now he has promotion he has earnt the right to a new contract and hopefully sustain us in league one ready for the championship push.
