Does anyone know what "prize money" we got for getting through the group stage? Wondering whether this is significant or not?

What a complete load of rubbish, 15,000 for a couple of clubs, this cup or trophy really is a waste of everyone's time, get rid of the stupid thing.

£10k per win, so £20k for us, the £3k fine will be removed from that.

The teams who are fined should all withdraw from the competition, if they are still in it.

I'm with others, regarding petty rubbish like this. Maybe this is the final nail in the coffin of the whole sorry time-wasting mess. We had to take a side on a Tuesday night in the middle of a heavy programme of matches to play a completely meaningless group game and get treated like this. The EFL and sponsors should be rewarding us for fulfilling the fixture. It's a good job Cox, Thompson and one or two others didn't pick up a serious injury in that match.

The games have been good for us to try out new ideas and systems and there is a point to the competition, in that respect. However, when they start applying ridiculous fines like this to a competition that is dying on it's a**e anyway, then I see no point in us continuing in it.

The rules are to force sides to make an effort in putting a decent team out, but for whose benefit. It's hardly to ensure better attendances!

The farcicial thing is that it wouldn't be against the competition rules for Swansea City to put five first team players out in the next round. It's laughable!

It's going to cost us, probably, to put the Oxford match on, so we might as well withdraw and save the money.

The way the regulations are worded they could, in theory put their complete first team out if six of their first team were under 21. Not likely to happen but if you had a situation where a club had a 'Class of '92' as Man U did then an EPL club could put out the entire first XI.
As you say, farcical.

Blues fined for Checkatrade Trophy selection

SOUTHEND United have been fined £3,000 for their team selection in the Checkatrade Trophy.

Very good point.

I'm also not convinced that all those 'all-under 21' ties weren't pre-arranged in that draw last week.

Those balls can get very warm in the SKY Sports studios! :winking:

How exactly do the authorities know what SUFC's "full strength" team is ? If you have several players carrying injuries from the weekend (that have been first team regulars), surely they wouldn't be first choice for a midweek game !

exactly it's people behind the scenes that make up these stupid rules and they are the people that ain't got a lot of knowledge or even played the game themselves, every new rule that gets added to this competition makes it even more of a joke to play in, time this trophy was scraped:'(

Maybe we made less changes than them?
We made 4 instead of 5, if they are applying the previous/next game rule.

The rules are hazy anyway. No wonder we got confused.

Never mind. At least it didn't happen when we beat Man Utd. Oh, hold on a sec...
