Was it a malicious challenge? Or was he just unlucky? Football is a collision sport - sometimes accidents can happen.

Blues left-back Coker suffers suspected broken leg

SOUTHEND United left-back Ben Coker suffered a suspected broken leg in this afternoon's clash at Colchester United.

The only player my daughter wanted a picture with yesterday.

What an unfortunate coincidence....

The player who Phil Brown want to sign can play in three different positons lets hope one is left back .Hope coker is back soon .

"Breaking News" prefix describing the urgency of the news and the injury itself...

Speedy recovery Cokes.

Looks like Hendrie is starting LB then!

Emergency left back loan or have Kyprianou as back up?

Doubt we'll get anyone in and don't think we should. White can play left back and I reckon Kyp would do a job if needed.

Huge blow to lose Cokes, but imagine how much worse of a position we'd be in if we hadn't signed Hendrie.

did we need to play this game 4 days before the season starts, I would have thought Brown knew his starting line up after the Cambridge game, and now we are another player down, it could have been avoided by not playing a stupid behind closed doors game.....

Damn. Thank goodness for Hendrie.

Get well soon Ben. Shows how important cover players are like White who can play elsewhere.

It was U21 with a few of the first team squad who have been out injured, to give them some game time, obviously for Ben it back fired a little.

Back fired a little....more of a disaster, lets hope Hendrie doesn't get injured or suspended in the first few weeks, pointless playing injured players this close to the start, great thinking, so no cover for left back and only 1 CH .....at the moment, so JW has his work cut out if we get problems

Not sure how he planned to fit Coker and Hendrie into the same team - did wonder if Hendrie had come in expecting Coker to go out - also wondered if we might end up with 3 at the back this season with Coker on the left hand side of that.
Irrespective, terrible news for Ben, but may allow Kyprianou some extra playing time.

It wasn't pointless, the point was to give him time on the pitch as he'd missed the pre-season games.

He could have done this in training this morning or getting out of the shower tomorrow.
