But I bet u if we win this and then progress further in the competition Southend fans will get behind the competition as it's a Wembley final! Fickle fans!! I think it's a decent competition and games for a fiver! What's not to like! Who ever attended the Cambridge game would definitely say it was a good game and great value for money!I don't think our fans will be bothered if we lose, there is not a single comment about this game on any of the forums or on Facebook. Ticket sales are almost non existent, there is only the West stand open for home sales, one complete section of several hundred seats has just 7 tickets sold!
Yes very likely, of course we got to a Wembley final of a very similar competition in the late 90s, then known as the Auto Windsreens shield. Unfortunately we lost 4-3 in a penalty shootout to Carlisle in front of 45000 fans and it was a great day out. Our fans are dead against the new under 21 format and are staying away because of it.But I bet u if we win this and then progress further in the competition Southend fans will get behind the competition as it's a Wembley final! Probably 'Fickle fans' is a bit harsh. There are supporters that have decided not to go on a point of principle following the introduction of Premiership teams into the competition. But I bet u if we win this and then progress further in the competition Southend fans will get behind the competition as it's a Wembley final!
