Essex Cricket 2024

let a promising start with the ball slip (79 for 3, 100 for 4). Notts are now only 16 runs adrift still with 6 wickets left.

Thankfully a Sam Cook hat-trick bailed us out and then came in a night watchman to see us go into D3 with a small lead and pretty level game. The lack of batting depth is a real worry, but we’ve been saying that for a while now.

Great start for EssexI hope to be at Chelmsford on Friday

how the heck did we turn that around?!? - to score the largest total of the match in the 3rd innings is pretty impressive.

very, very impressive win. we seem to have made a conscious effort to up the run rate, hopefully the batsmen step up this year. carry on like that and we got a chance

Looking forward to going to my first County Championship match at Chelmsford tomorrow. Season has started well for Essex and a nice sunny day, good cricket, food and a nice few bevvies beckons.

Interesting that Michael Pepper keeps wicket instead of Jordan Cox (3rd choice?!?)

Fowkes and Bairstow behind the timbers situation. Pepper is a proper glove man but Cox is here as a batsmen but can step in if needed as he did at Trent Bridge.
