Question Euro Disney

Hi All

Planning on taking family this November to Euro Disney. Everyone I have spoken to literally says its a total rip off. Anyone got any tips on what has worked well for you?

Going in a couple of weeks. If the weather is as good as it was last year we're in for a treat. The boys spent about an hour and half jumping in muddy puddles.

Went last week, weather was so good I got sunburn! Hardly any queues.

Back to Disney - my little one is obsessed with Mickey Mouse, so maybe one day - but everything to do with with Disney seems hugely overpriced it just puts me off. I could manage a day, but I think anymore and I'd go mental.

Not been to Paris but been to Orlando twice.

With the kids ages mine were 5 and 9 last year, 7 and 10 this year.

My daughter loved it both years but my son definitely got more from it the second time round, although only 13 months older than the first time he went (although he still loved it first time). Im pretty sure he wont remember any of it when he is older.

I personally wouldnt take kids till they are 7 years old, but as my daughter is 4 years old we had to go before she was too old to get the magic of it and still be able to take time off school.

Im not a fan of parks but I loved Disney with the kids. Its actually pretty decent value there as well, I think we paid £1200 for 14 days unlimited access and spent 6 days in the parks, but you could do more if you want (we didnt bother with Epcot or Tyhpoon Lagoon this year).

Sadly you have to shell out for flights which is where half the money goes!

£1500 for 3 nights in Paris seems a fair bit but assume thats with Hotel prices so mitigates it a bit.

Me too. However, we've decided to wait until our eldest is 8 to go, meaning the youngest will be 7. Hopefully the enjoyment they get from it will help alleviate the pain I'll feel by being knowingly ripped off.

My daughter says that her friends at school(no black ones so she is racist) reckon asterix is better than disney so look at a two stop break Dave.

We booked it through the Disney official site as they had various offers. The price will mainly depend on if it's school holidays so best to avoid where possible.

We spent everyday at the parks, wasn't too busy and plenty to keep the kids entertained.

Yes, we booked like that as well, I think we did 4 days, 3 nights which was plenty of time....just don't do what we did (which I don't think you will as you said you'd booked November) and book to go around the Bastille holiday celebrations!!!

On that, what you have to do is watch for the years when the actual Easter holidays falls outside of (or at the beginning/end of) the two week Easter break. You need to be looking two years ahead (which dates ought to be available)....the prices are markedly different if you try and combine one week of term time and one week of school holidays, and most primary schools are not unreasonable if you put the request in nice and early. Doing it that way round also guarantees them getting over jet lag before they go back to school. It also helps if you put a bit of effort in and make them keep a scrapbook so they are practising writing and sequencing, and it helps them too.

No problem taking them during primary school, wouldnt take mine out of senior school though. Flights in the summer holiday to Orlando were £4,500 when I looked, but £2000 out of school holidays (when you also dont have to queue 2 hours for every ride, max we queued was 20 minutes). Norwegian Airlines are opening up from Gatwick now though and they are far cheaper than Virgin.

Pre school theres really no point in taking them, they wont remember it and wont be able to do most of the good stuff anyway, youll end up going on "Its a small world" 26 times.

Agreed. The Anthea Bell and Derek Hockridge translations are genius. One of my very favourite moments comes from 'Asterix The Gladiator', where two Roman guards are called, respectively, Happianglorius and Longtoreignoverus. Genius!

And as for the Egyptian Ptenisnet in 'Asterix The Legionary'....

defo Eurostar, easy and kids get little disney packs. personally can't stand the place but the kids love it, don't expect much from the food there!! moncler and armani outlets at the nearby shopping centre worth a visit :)

I went about 7 years ago. Got the Eurostar and they took our bags to the hotel when we arrived just before lunchtime so we could walk straight off the train and into the park...which for my 2 yo daughter was just magical. That whole experience of getting on a train in England and stepping off at the other end in the shadow of the gates to Disney Land was great when you've got a kid that age with you.
