I don't really see why we need two national cup competitions, most countries just have one. No one really cares about the League Cup until they get to the latter stages.

It offers a place in europe, though. Very sought after for many clubs

maybe make the league cup for Champinship down , That way the premeiershite clubs can stop complaing they have too manyfixtures etc .

Or...stop pandering to the Premier League and keep it as it is. The top clubs can play the youngsters / squad players if they think there are too many fixtures.

Fair point But that was during our one season in the Championship, and I don't recall a memorable League Cup tie or run we had since then.

To be fair, we haven’t played in it for years due to being in the National League…

IMO Premier League teams shouldn't have PL refs appointed to these types of games.

EFL refs so there can be no alleged bias.

I'd disagree with that. You should have the best referee available. And let's face it, if an EFL ref was given the match they would still be accused of being biased, it would just be the other way round.

What happened to the great days when the season ended, then we’d wait in anticipation for the cup final watching the coverage which, from memory started many hours before. I think clubs are placing a greater emphasis on it compared to recent seasons but for me the magic of the end of season finale has all gone. Can’t even remember the last one I actually watched. On the plus side all genuinely football fans want Palace to hold out.
