This was being discussed on the Jeremy Vine show as I was going to the tip. I'm sure it's been done before but here goes. What's your favourite painting that you must see if you go to the National Gallery.

I must always see amd usually go straight to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/An_Experiment_on_a_Bird_in_the_Air_Pump by Joseph Wright of Derby. The guy looking like Frank Findlay, the scared little girls the vision of science and the changes it will make is quite incredible. He can also paint, which is a great bonus for me. Very Caravagioesque in the lighting.

My wife can never go without seeing this painting

Two favourites for me, Holbein's "The Ambassadors", and trying to get the right angle to see the skull....

Good thread.

The link isn't working because it thinks the first four letters of his surname are rude, which takes the ****.

To post a photo you need the url of the jpeg and you put [ img ][/ img ] around it, without the spaces.

This works though, I think? Camille ****arro - Montmartre at Night
