Peter Clarke is a journeyman and gives nothing less than 100 percent where ever he has played.

Peter Clarke is a great example. Was better than Barrett, but somewhat overlooked because he wasn't a local fan/legend. Absolutely class defender who gave his all, and still playing at a high level in his 40s

My use of the word "journeyman" in my original post was based on this definition:
"A journeyman is a sportsman who is technically competent but does not excel", as in the phrase "journeyman professional",
rather than the alternative definition of "a player who has plied his trade at several clubs".
