As a long time supporter of this Charity I recently visited one of the training centres and learnt something that it would be helpful if most people knew.

A guide dog will take its owner to a kerb and stop at the kerb until it is told to move forward. Obviously in some cases this means crossing a busy road.

If the handler is holding the harness in the down position they are hoping to get help from a member of the public. So if you see this, go and offer your assistance.

Now you know.

Thank you.

Good stuff steveo, will bear that in mind. It really is a wonderful charity.

Had an embarrassing moment with them the other day though. Some folk from Guide Dogs were with their dogs at our local fire station open day. My children (nearly two) like dogs a lot and toddled up to the poor hounds screaming in delight. Cue spooked dogs and blind people covering their ears from the yelping.
