Post-Match Thread and Ratings Halifax 0-2 Southend United

Really? I didn’t hear them. But like said previously, it’s ridiculous to go all that way just to sing negative chants.
That's the thing I can't understand more than anything. 4 hour car journey and all the expenditure to chant something so negative, absolutely ridiculous. Especially when we've only lost 1 game on the road in the last 8 and it was 0-0 at the time, they were in the playoff spots and we'd created chances. Absolute madness to be so negative.

Justin Rees was bang on when he referenced a change in mentality and that everyone associated with the club is mentally affected by the previous regime. I said it in a previous post on the zone about fans not knowing what to do with all this negative energy that used to be hurled at Ron. The mentality doesn't change over night. Fans are so used to turning up and being negative. It will take a long time for it to change, especially if we aren't top of the table.

Fair play to Kev, after what happened at Altrincham, he could have went safe. He didn't and was brave. To pick Moncur after he's previous showing was bold.

In the next league game we have a very favourable home game against Hartlepool. Win that, and we are looking up at playoff spots again. A hard game at York followed by two teams in the relegation mix is looking good too. A couple of quality additions in Jan and we are looking good going into the second half of the season. Fans that said the season was over last week really need a rethink. Plenty to play for. Utb!

I didn't hear any Maher out chants, so they weren't very loud/persistent. We know that there are always a handful of idiots in any crowd, and our fanbase isn't any different.

We started the game pretty well and Halifax were dangerous, especially their speedy wingers who wanted to drive forward on the ball. Gus and Ralph had tough games, but fortunately our CBs were extremely solid.

I thought in general we played a 442 formation with Bridge on the left and Coker on the right. Both of them did drift inside a bit, leaving the width to come from the full back. Most of the game Walker was up front alongside Bim. Morton and Moncur were excellent in the middle, with Moncur playing 4 or 5 passes or crosses that should have generated a finishing chance. This is the one criticism of Bim, who is excellent outside the box and driving with the ball, but needs to work on his movement inside the box. Bonne and Waldron were lively when they came on and the game opened up in the last 10 mins.

I am getting to the point where I'd consider giving Gus a break and letting Wind have a game on a heavy pitch. He looks leggy and I worry about an injury, especially as we'll likely need him over the busy Xmas period.

Colin - 7
Gus - 6
Crowther - 8
Taylor - 8 (MOTM)
Ralph - 6
Bridge - 7
Morton - 7.5
Moncur - 7.5
Coker - 6
Walker - 6
Bim - 8

Subs:
KAF - 7
Bonne - 7
Wind - |N/A
Waldron - 6
Husin - 6

Next week is looking very important. After a good point at home and four points from six on the road, we desperately need to start building proper momentum with a good, highly professional win at Brentwood. Lose that, and all the negativity (some of which is justified but some of which is wildly disproportionate) comes back with a vengeance.

I agree. It's also a fantastic opportunity for the likes of Bonne and Walker to get amongst the goals for some much needed confidence. Of the former can't score against Brentwood, he's never going to score.

Very much so for those two, and important game time for KAF, Wind and Woody, maybe Cav as well. I just am nervous of the plastic pitch stuff for those coming back to fitness such as Danny Waldron and Cav. Can young Macdonald play?

Anyone got a halifax vs southend program for sale.Couldn't get one on sat. Thanks
No me neither, one of my gripes at away grounds of late. It is either online or you need to queue in club shop? Programme stand in away end gangway but it was used to stand the beers on by our lot. Cost cutting I dare say to not employ programme sellers, certainly not in away end.

I managed to get one but only after the steward went to the Halifax end and got it for me. They had three left. he said its the same every week and they never print enough rather than print more and have surplus left after the game
