Can't agree with that. To be more effective than the wingers we have he'd need to learn how to cross the ball and that he does not need to beat his man 10 times.

Well, I still think we miss JCR. A lot of people thought Tommy Black would be an upgrade but he blatantly isn't - no evidence so far of him providing the creative edge people thought JCR lacked, and he has nowhere near the workrate JCR was willing to put in week in, week out last season.

JCR wasn't as productive as he should have been but equally well, he was involved in more goals than people remember, provided a great outlet on the right, and also took some pressure off Mark Gower, who we are now over-reliant on for flair and creating chances.

And ultimately, the fact is, JCR is a regular in a Barnsley team that are more than holding their own in the Championship, so he must be doing something right. Let's hope Damian Scannell can fill the void on the right.
