Kevin Maher

Has suddenly become a freekick specialist! He has set up quite a few goals for them this season from set pieces and is viewed by their fans as a bit of a freekick expert! Bit different to some of his corners for us but will never forgot his freekicks v QPR.
He set up both their goals on saturday v Northampton:

I know he scored twice for us against QPR when we stuffed them 5-0...were they both freekicks?

No only one, however he set up Gower for 2-0 with a sublime chipped free kick.

Maher was very good at set pieces, I think he often appeared poor compared to Gower, Mulgrew, Hammell, even Freddy. Now we don't have any really decent Freekick takers and it shows

To be fair, I really think the corners were in a really difficult state - we know how steep the slope is, and in the state the pitch was Franno wasn't the only one to suffer with difficulties taking corners.

You would have thought that after ten years of playing at RH, Kev might have had a bit of practise? What's that, about 230 games, about 5-6 corners. maybe 1000 corners?

I even saw The General take a decent corner once at RH, so it is possible.

He didn't kick the ball from the slope!

I thought people accepted that the pitch is in pretty poor condition with the recent weather, and imo, hasn't been as good since before the sprinklers went in. The corner slopes would have been very slippy at the weekend, which was the point I was making.

Maher's corners were woeful. There's no way that that bit of history can be re-written.

Good to see he's doing well at Oldham though.
