I liked Barry Silkman , he was instrumental in Richard Cadette being such a huge success with us , and they became firm friends. Had a lot of time for fans too , chatted with him for over an hour once - he absolutely loved football

Have to admit that I quite liked him as a player.He was certainly good on the ball, though pretty lazy.I suspect he wasn't really interested in playing for us.You could always see him drinking in the real ale pubs in the High Street at the time.Especially the Aristocrat.

I remember when he was walking his greyhounds out Rochford way one morning when a van pulled up alongside him and a couple of guys jumped out with baseball bats and set about Barry , he must of upset someone .
