Official Match Thread Leyton Orient v Southend United

I think we might have got something had it not been for the first goal- but we didn’t deserve much and can’t complain

Appalling refereeing for first but you can’t rely on officials at this level- you have to be sufficiently better that you are not at the mercy of the inevitable howler from time to time.

Barrow lost and Grimsby drew so could be worse..
Barrow haven't lost yet, there's 30 minutes to go up there in Cumbria......

Just watched us spend 94 minutes chasing shadows. Couldn't get the ball and the few times we did we struggled to put a move together. Positives.......none.......apart from, we didn't lose by more

The squad is paper thin and so this was one game too many for a few of our players (Hart, Akinola, Olayinka and ANG). Thought White and Hobson did well again tonight and good to see Elvis try a lung busting run in injury time. We missed Clifford and despite all the positives posters about our other young players I am still not convinced Egbri and RT are ready for first team football. Our best player is clearly macca but we can't rely on him to be available enough times this year to dig us out of hole -new signings needed in the window if we are to avoid the trap door.

You sir, get the award for understatement of the night!

On this showing, do we end the loan early and send Simone Akinola back to Arsenal?

And Olyinki had a poor game as well.

In fact, both were so.poor you could hardly tell them apart.

Could tell from the off they had more urgency and purpose about them and Wilkinson was getting in behind Hart with worrying ease. We massively missed Kyle Taylor, our ball retention was poor. In the middle Dieng could possibly have got to a couple of loose balls (but thought better of it), Demi was too keen/rash and tried to tackle from the wrong side on a couple of occasions, while Olayinka must still be injured (not long before he was withdrawn he was easily outpaced by McAnuff and hauled him back). Struggling to see why Nathaniel-George was taken off and after that we were disjointed, with Richard Taylor seemingly stuck out on the left wing (?)
We were deservedly beaten, but how galling was it to go behind to that free-kick. Not often do you see players protest so vehemently at the distance of the wall BEFORE the kick is taken. I have just been told that a local referee's forum declared it was '11 yards at worst' - oh, that's all right then! Mick's pre-match profile of this ref had already alarmed me, and one of his most interesting decisions was to penalise Egbri when their guy attempted to cut across him, missed him (well he is small) duly fell over, and was awarded a free-kick ?!?
I liked their left back, good player, but wasn't so keen on the no 19 - a proper wind up merchant.
How many more games again before we are 51% into the season?

I’m 9 months post Covid and I am nowhere near back to normal!
Any excuse and you knock someone without any constructive argument.
Hes in his early 20s hes young fit and healthy and we dont even know if he had symptoms or not? Most likely he just tested positive like most do and have absolutely nothing wrong with them.He was our best player tonight by a mile and didnt show a covid hangover. In my opinion it was just horrible decision by MM and any attacks we had died after he went off.

You are completely deluded regarding this virus, it affects young, old, people with medical history and people without any medical history, it is indiscriminate!
I know a lot of people who have had mild symptoms but still get fatigue after a short while.

I know the facts.Never been worried about it one bit!! Anyway as I said just days ago the oxford vaccine has been given the approval so all the ppg lovers I'm afraid your bubble has been burst and yes there will be fans back in stadiums fully by april.

I do try not to rise to your bait, but you have finally convinced me that you have absolutely no idea when it comes to the real world at the moment. I'm guessing that it's completely different for you in Troll Land where you come from.

Sad to see a Southend-Orient match thread devolve into a argument due to a troll that isn’t me. I’m getting agreeable in my old age.

I'm not trolling I'm just a realist and positive person! Tell me? Why do u think things will get worse when we already have a vaccine? And now an even better vaccine that is starting on monday and we have 100 million doses but we only actually need to vaccinate 15 million? Football wont be stopt, there will be no ppg and quite rightly so as we have this vaccine now,its what we have been waiting for it's the game changer.

I think this looks like the discussion on the game has run its course. There are other threads and forums for other topics.
