Trueman was I think 8/31 against India in 1952. I also remember Trueman taking 7 fer against the WIndies in 1963, when I was a nipper.
Tyson for pace, was indeed described by Richie Benaud as the fastest he had ever seen. Larwood by all accounts was seriously quick. I am told that another very quick bowler was Kenneth Farnes of Essex, who was a fighter pilot and killed in WWII.
Cheers canveyshrimper. I hadn't heard of Farnes. He sounds a quality player. 690 wickets at 21.45 is some first class record. Quite a lengthy write-up by cricinfo/wisden he seemed to be particularly fond of Southend!
