I still think 500 miles would be excellent.

...
I would walk 500 miles to see Ben Coker score...

Love Do anything you want to do, but keeping up the pedantic nature of the zone I feel I need to mention it was actually by the Rods. I just checked my 45 :winking:

Anyway how about turning the current Antonio chant into Brownio for our glorious leader bit easier to remember than PB blue and white army chant

It was a 7 inch in that era. Your mum had 45's

Brooker and Trower moved to and lived in Southend but none of Procol Harum were Southend born and bred. Even Alison Moyet was born in Billericay and grew up in BasVegas. Only two of The Kursaal Flyers are local (Rochford). James Bourne of Busted fame was born in Rochford and grew up in Southend. Perhaps he could be persuaded to record something.

According to Wiki - Brooker was born in Hackney in 1945 and moved to Southend in 1945. So though not born in town he was pretty much bred in Southend and attended Westcliff high.

Alison would have only been Born in Billericay because that is where the Hospital was in those days, Basildon hospital didn't open until 1974

A club song can come about by chance, by manufacture and can be historical or fairly recent , there seems to be no "rules" o what works well. Apart from the fact it it normally of a slow tempo and has quite a few lyrics building to a crescendo .The best example of a relatively recent adoption even at such a historical cub is this beauty http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/scotland/39066748 Absolutely spine tingling from Hibs' Sunshine on Leith

I may have missed something here but whatever happened to 'The Eton Boating Song' which was sung at least into the 1950s with adapted words starting 'All pull together....'? COYBB

Giving my age away here, but the Eton Boating Song was sung @ Grainger Road. When we moved to Roots Hall Coventry City were regular visitors in the early days and they made it their song.
