Only two of The Kursaal Flyers are local (Rochford). James Bourne of Busted fame was born in Rochford and grew up in Southend. Perhaps he could be persuaded to record something.

According to Wiki - Brooker was born in Hackney in 1945 and moved to Southend in 1945. So though not born in town he was pretty much bred in Southend and attended Westcliff high.

A club song can come about by chance, by manufacture and can be historical or fairly recent , there seems to be no "rules" o what works well. Giving my age away here, but the Eton Boating Song was sung @ Grainger Road. When we moved to Roots Hall Coventry City were regular visitors in the early days and they made it their song.
