First case:-

Dealt pocket kings under the gun, raise 3 times BB. Gets called by one other player. Flop comes King rag rag. I check, he goes all in and I call. He shows aces. Turn comes an ace, river comes an ace.

Second case:-

Final table down Mint Casino £30 freezeout, chip leader with 100k in chips, 4 players remain, average stack 57500 so well ahead. Get dealt AK suited from the button so raise. SB goes all in for about 80k, BB folds. I call and he shows AJ suited. Flop comes K high with one diamond (no jack). Turn and river come diamonds giving him the flush

Why do I play poker! :fury:

Lol good work! One of miine is much better IMO! I'll dig it out in a moment. When is there a £30 Freezeout at Mint, Bill!? I know they have changed Sunday to £50 Freezeout ( with a £10 quid bounty ) but have they changed anything else?!

The first one isn't a bad beat.

The second one is you calling off 4/5ths of a stack without a hand and is pretty debatable play.

Bad luck though, and all that. :)

Wednesday night is the £30 freezeout, replaced the £5 rebuy donkfest! :thump:

Normally attracts 50 to 60 runners.

Everything else is the same except for the Sunday which has been changed to what you said.

So the first one where I was a 96% favourite going to the turn wasnt a bad beat?

I accept your point about the second hand, but he'd been playing rag aces all night so was pretty sure I was ahead at the point. ;)

Hang on JS! AK suited in a 4 person table is un-passable IMO. The man with AJ has a semi decent hand hand and he probably see's the button raise as a steal by Bill. So by re-pushing he puts all the onus onto you and if you are passing AK suited in that spot, you are uber tight IMO.

As for mine:

1) Blinds 100/200. An early limper and i picked up QhQd and raise to 600. The SB re-raises another 2000 and the BB and early limper fold. I push and its another 300 for him to call. He flips over JcJh. Im huge favourite.

Flop. AcQc4c.

You can see whats coming can't you ...

Turn 9c.

Somehow, after flopping a set, im now behind!

River Js.

That was a pretty sick hand. I use my re-buy and am on 5200 at the break. Playable but need cards. Im card dead for nigh on a hour, bar an uncontested raise with 66.

2) I then find AK with blinds at 300/600 and me on 3100. I auto-push and the SB calls off half his stack with AcTc.

Flop 4 6 T

Turn 8

River J

Well thanks for that. Lovely.

Hope you enjoyed.

:D

Nope. Not saying that either of you played it badly, but a 'bad beat' can only be called after 5 cards, and K-K getting done by A-A isn't one of 'em :D

'Bad beat' would apply to my mate in a live tournament recently. Sitting pretty on an above average stack, a guy who's on tilt pushes all in. He looks down to see Q-Q, makes the call and the other guy flips 7-2 suited.

Board comes down: J-8-4-5-6.

Two hands later, he finds J-J on the button, pushes all-in against the chippie's BB. BB thinks for a second and says "Might as well try and knock you out", and flips 7-2. Off. Flop came down 7-7-2.

:hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious:

Do you make notes as you play General to ensure you don't forget the important details?

Or maybe as a training method so you don't get caught out next time?

Admittedly I am quite a reticent player; in this instance I'd have been looking at tournament position - if the average was 55k, then the other two stacks must have had less than 30k between them. Wouldn't have seen the sense in crippling my stack when I didn't know if I was ahead (Insta-call against the short-stacks of course).

People always comment on my memory of hands. Its just something that i remember very well, i guess!

:)

If you want to win the tourny, IMO its an auto-call but then some will disagree! Thats why poker is such a great game!

If i'd have won i'd have been on about 200k chips, with the other 2 sharing 30k and the big blind being 8k!!

Managed to come 3rd and bag £210 but feel I should have won the £530 top prize!

The winning player is the one who loses the least chips, not the one who wins the most ;) I sense a heads-up between us would be interesting :D

Passing A, K Suited, On a 4 person table... Surely not? 4 Handed your either miles in front or racing to hit the ace or king to take out someones pocket 6's - q's... Yeah you may get unlucky and not hit or someone calls with A, rag and hits the rag...

My worst bad beat... Have K, 7 and flop a boat... 7, K, K... (Playing cash £1/£2 pot limit) and then someone hits running Q's on me to go and hit quads... pot was at £210 on the flop and ended at £640...

I did then smash him slow playing quad dueces lol!

Also, Im having a home game in Westcliff next week, Doing at £20 STT and then some pot limit cash, Holdem and Omaha...

Q-Q holding up against K-7 is not a bad beat....!

And as for the A-K pass, I don't like racing for 4/5ths of my stack. Just a personal preference.
