Away Travel Potential Gateshead Flight Charter - Cancelled

I remember many years ago (1992 I think) flying from Southend to Liverpool to watch us play Everton in the FA Cup. It seemed strange being in Southend around 11am and in Liverpool just after noon and then being back in Southend by 7pm! Good luck with the plane. If I still lived in Essex I would definitely fly but alas, I live in Norfolk so driving up there.

Sadly looking like it probably won't at this stage. Was up to 130 odd yesterday but have had a dozen or so drop out and we need full uptake to make it worthwhile and financially viable. I have enquired about a smaller aircraft but the step down in size would only be a 70 seater (ATR-72) which would actually cost more to charter (£40,500). Will make an official call on this later on as a few people have been in touch on here and elsewhere with regards to helping out with aviation contacts etc but looking more unlikely than likely currently.

It's a shame that people commit interest in one thing but then choose to drop out when the next option appears, that's not my style.
Unfortunately you are the victim of what I see as a disjointed approach by all the interested parties. Sad as this would've been a real experience.
I'll probably just listen as I certainly don't want to sit on a coach for those hours.

Even with the dozen drop outs, we were still 50 or so short anyway. Understandably if a cheaper alternative is put on the table then people will take it, no issues where that's concerned. As one mentioned was always gonna have to be a herculean effort.

With Southend airport now back in full operation and our support. Then next season these sort of games would surely make flying an option. Could fly up with the players etc.
