IIRC he ran the line in the France 1998 World Cup Final.  He followed that up with an even bigger game for his 1st refereeing appointment as the man in the middle for Scarboro vs the Shrimpers, but failed to last the course having to go off injured at half time.

He appears to have refereed us 7 times in the 7 1/2 years since his 1st game at Scarborough.  We've won 3, lost 2 & drawn 2 of these games & out of these have had 2 head to heads with the Swans.  1999 saw a 3-1 loss at the Vetch but last year he was in charge for the 37 fans who saw the 2-1 success in the LDV.

Was the 1999 the other time we had three sent off?

Yes, I was living there at the time. King Rob blasted a volley from 30 yards. Had everything that game, Martin was escorted from the playing field surrounded by marshalls and police.

Happy days!!

Nope. That was 1998 & the referee was Andy Hall.

Can't remember him standing out for any reason so he should be ok. If you come away from the match not talking about the referee his done a good job.

Didnt he score in the last minute of last season's game at thr Vetch Field

As in the former Shrimpers' centre-back now playing for Fisher Athletic, and scorer of one of the goals in our 3-1, 8-man victory at the Vetch last year...?

Shhhhhh! Don't tell anyone, and they might not notice...

No need to gild the lily, Matt - it was 3-2 and their second goal was a very good one indeed - so sad it was too little too late!

It was in injury time just after we scored, they were launching a long-ball attack, their forwards racing towards the goal and the ball dropped just behind the forward on the edge of the box, he stuck his heel out behind him and flicked the ball up, and the guy behind him volleyed it from outside the area, a dipping shot over the head of the guy in front and it just dived under the crossbar. Just hope we don't see its like tomorrow night!
