Breaking News Retained/Released list - Wood and Waldron released

IF????????

If we’d folded at 3-1 down v Rochdale we wouldn’t be having a Wind debate.

If we’d folded at FGR we wouldn’t be having a Wind debate.

If I hadn’t had a large fry up this morning we wouldn’t be having a wind debate.

If we’d have scored one of two decent chances in ET at 2-1 up we wouldn’t have been having a Wind debate. I suspect at 3-1 he’d have been given time on the pitch enabling GSM to walk off with massive applause from us fans.

If we’d won 3-1 guess what ? Wind would still have been on the release list.
Typo or did I miss something ?

@ORM If Oldham had scored the guilt edged chances they had during normal time it wouldn't even have got ET, let alone Penalties.

Agreed and still it’s an if that doesn’t change the fact that Wood has been released. I’ll have a fiver with anyone what Wind wont have 30 percent of the success that Gary Hooper did after leaving us.

GUILT has to be felt by our manager. For not replacing Gus at ht of extra time admittedly, but far more for not fielding our strongest line-up with Coker, Parillon and Bonne on from the start. I’m sure we could’ve outplayed them ,but unlike us,they had a good tactician in charge.

I’m not with you there.
But I don’t understand why, over the course of a season, George Wind has barely had a kick, and Gus has played every minute. There have been many occasions where som fresh legs on the right would have been of benefit.

I very much doubt that Kev is feeling any sort of guilt, he's the chief coach and he has way more knowledge of what was needed than you or I. It's true that Oldham's manager was on the money, but to say Kev wasn't tactically sound is nonsense.

I thought he got it right. LCP and Bonne were better as subs coming on in the last 5 or 6 games.

Im led to believe that (Jack Stone) third year scholar age has been offered a professional contract. Well done to all in the youth department. @Exiled Shrimper if true then is it a good offer ?
Jack Stone was superb last season and was the stand-out player amongst the third-years (and indeed won the youth team player of the year award). Should this be confirmed, it’s testament to the hard work he has put in personally, and also a massive credit to the staff within the youth department.

Obviously he scored a lot of goals, which will always catch the eye as a forward, but he made great strides with his all-round play as the season progressed. He can hold the ball up and bring team-mates into play, he occupies defenders throughout a game and he can score with his feet and his head.

He’s extremely driven to succeed and I know he’s learned from senior players when he’s been out on loan. Working with Tom Hopper and potentially Macauley Bonne would continue to improve his game, I’m sure.

I’m aware he impressed the coaching staff and some of the first-team players when he featured in an inter-squad game towards the end of the season to go alongside the body of work he has put together as a youth team player (34 goals in 46 appearances) and whilst playing senior football on loan. He also emerged as a leader within the U19s group; he was vocal on the sidelines encouraging his team-mates whilst injured.

He’ll still have lots to learn, and there’s a big gap between youth team football and the National League, but he has many good attributes. As I’ve said a few times, to try to bridge that gap, it’d likely be more loan spells, hopefully moving up the non-league period.

I know Jack Stone was part of the training day that sponsors were invited to towards the end of the season. Good to see him being included.

Great write up on him.

When do you think it’s likely we’ll hear about the U19 players staying or going plus Faulkner and MacDonald?

Thank you @SUFCYouth @SUFCRootsHall for a home for the past 16 months. It’s been such a blessing. Thanks to the coaches at the academy and the first team. A lot learnt and a lot more to learn.

George Pulham -
It’s time to walk away from a massive chapter of my life. I’ve taken away things I never thought I could learn on and off the pitch. I want to thank all the coaching staff and the boys for making this club home for the last 2 and a half years.
Thank you @SUFCRootsHall @SUFCYouth
