I actually nearly wrote 2 1/2 but didn't want to start an argument!
No you didn't.

Interestingly Geoff Hurst only scored 6, with three obviously coming in one match.
argh I came on here to post exactly that.
There are only 43 players IN HISTORY who have scored more international goals than Rooney.
I guess it is worth noting that the euros were a curious tournament until 1980. Prior to then, only four teams qualified for the finals, so there was far less opportunity for players of Hurst's era to score on that stage.
I bet many England fans don't even know we were semi-finalists in Euro 1968!
If scoring that many international goals was so easy, why have so few done it?
Tough question. Charlton played in an amazing England team....world cup winners in fact. Bur Charlton was essentially a midfielder. Also I will always maintain that Charlton makes any all time world 11....easily. He was that good. Rooney would not make world 11s, has not played in the best team in the world yet has been a fantastic goal scorer for England. If I had to answer I would say Charlton. ..but we'll done Rooney for an amazing feat...England's record scorer.....mmmmm moist
I thought 8 teams (2 groups of 4) qualified? I also seem to remember hearing somewhere that we didn't qualify for a very long time.
The majority of people in England (including me) don't like Rooney (acts like a spoilt brat)
The majority of people in England (including me) like and respect Bobby (he is a true gent)
But if and when Rooney breaks the goal scoring record and sets a new one we have to give him respect for that
Bobby Charlton hasn't spoken to his brother for decades.
I'm fairly clear on who is the spoilt brat.
Got to admit I did not know this.
Typical Family argument my wife hasn't spoken to her brother for years (all to do with money, he is a sado)
Bobby Charlton hasn't spoken to his brother for decades.
I'm fairly clear on who is the spoilt brat.

In fairness, a friend of ours doesn't speak to her mother and sister, but that doesn't mean she's a spoilt brat. Far from it.
