Hang on dont tell TTK just made that Maher bit up to help emphasis his point.

I heard it through the grapevine, a friend of a friend etc knows someone that plays for SUFC. Cannot mention any names!

Up the Blues!

Also, why does Maher deserve to stay on the pitch no matter how bad he plays! Makes you think, when was Maher ever subbed off???

Always a grain of truth in a rumour!

Firstly when it comes to Tes, Tilly is making substitutions and using the other available forwards. This says to me that Tilly does not believe Tes can change a game. Time he was gone then or time Tes proved himself enough to change the gaffers mind.
Secondly, Maher substituted? He is our only creative player. Like him or loathe him we do not have another player that can do his job, even when he is doing it badly.

Apart from Jay.

When fit.

Which he never is.
So then substituting him isn't an option then is it!
Some people!

I wouldn't say Maher is our only creative player, infact I'd put Gower and Eastwood ahead of him.

Don't get me wrong, I'm Maher's biggest fan (After ORM) and I think his one of the best players in his position (Holding midfielder) outside of the Championship. The fact that Hull (2nd in League One) and Sheffield Wednesday (4th? in League One) where after him in the summer would prove that at least I'm not alone in thinking this.

As do the vast majority of fans on here, (tested on numerous occassions by threads and polls), a succession of SUFC managers and the rest of the players.

Kevin Maher is a living legend and I look forward to him lifting the LDV Vans Trophy at Cardiff in April and just being pipped for the player of the season Trophy by Barratt and Eastwood.

I wouldn't necessarily describe him as a creative midfielder though.

Not a fact.

I can't believe people fall for the rumours agents spread in order to bolster their client's bargaining position.

ps Even if Hull were after him, they are managed by Peter Taylor. Peter Taylor thought Keith Dublin, Mark Hone, Harry Willis, Julian Hails and various other footballers (I use the word in its loosest sense) were good. They patently were not.

I think he was right in his judgement of Leon Cort though. Every manager makes mistakes. Peter Taylor just made a few more than his fair share.

If Sheffield Wed. or Hull really came in with a serious bid for Maher, I think he would have gone.

I don't believe the rumours.

Oh... and didn't Maher also say there was no truth in them once the season has started?

Clearly one of the finest players ever to wear the blue of Southend...  I'm sure that's what you said in the car yesterday, Cousin Weir...
