Southend Seafront

Head East a little...lunch at ocean beach...then grab a cheeky bottle and soak up the sun.

If we recommending as far away as Ocean Beach (which is very good and we eat there regularly), then I have to mention the Great Wall Chinese. Like eating in someone's front room, but really good Chinese.

Much prefer the Pearl Dragon, best Chinese restaurant in Southend - as evidenced by the number of Chinese that go in there, especially for Dim Sum!

Nice restaurants along the seafront? That's a bit wrong isn't it? Surely it should just be dodgy pubs, fish and chips, doughnuts and ice creams? Does tradition not count for anything any more?

If you fancy a wander down the sea front a way, you could do worse than to eat at the arches - if it's sunny they'll be rammed, but good food and a good selection. Rossis always an option near there too.

The arches are great if you like being credit checked before purchasing a full English.

Overpriced in my opinion.

Of course it does, and those traditional things still exist in abundance. Thankfully, there are also some really good eateries along the full stretch now which gives us all choice.

If you like being surrounded by topless tattooed men drinking session lager and wearing 1988 Spurs shorts you might want to try The Hope Hotel.
I walked past the Hope at about 8am today and there was a group of 8 or so Spurs fans sat outside, male and female, loudly chanting obscene anti-Arsenal songs, and various Yid chants. Seriously, what's up with these morons?

Well Southend are playing at highbury today, maybe they got confused??:raspberry:

The Cornucopia, apart from being a decent little pub, also has exotic dancers performing in the bar.....unbelievably considering it is one of the smallest pubs in UK. Well worth a visit IMHO. COYBB

If you are driving down there, then park in the Kursaal estate as its free and the cars are safe. Also don't even bother driving down Vic Ave as that will be rammed try Bournemouth Park Rd or Sutton Rd as alternatives. As for things to do and eat, all I can advise is stay away from the Pizza place near Bailys fish and chip shop.

Let's just take a moment to read that again.

Also one of the more expensive. If your eating in the early evening try Toulouse Restaurant up past the Westcliff casino. Often have two for one or early bird menu. Open lunchtimes as well Tues-Fri.
Had a birthday meal there a few years ago, really great food with good service.
